Funeral Service for Judy Ann Crawford-Strutz, 38 of Watertown, SD will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with the Rev. Charles Chan and John Cloud III officiating. Organist will be Kay Bursheim. Pallbearers will be Korry Bertsch, Keith Crawford, Beau Crawford, Ricardo Bertsch, Norman Vig and Ole Vig. Interment will be in the Sisseton Veteran Section, Sisseton, SD Military Rites will be provided by the Vietnam Veterans and the South Dakota Patriotic Guard. The Wake Services will be held at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 7:00PM and an all night wake on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 7:00 PM.
Judy Ann Crawford was born on March 27, 1972 in Sisseton, SD to Eugene Crawford and the late Judith Marilyn (Frenier) Crawford. She graduated from Tiospa Zina School in 1990. Judy entered the United States Marines in August 1990 and served until December 1994. She received the following medals, Rifle marksman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 star, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 1 Star, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, Certificate of Appreciation, Meritorious Mast, Certificate of Merit and Certificate of Commendation. She earned the rank of CPL. Following the Marines she returned to Watertown as Associate Manager of Dakota Sioux Casino. She later returned to Sisseton and graduated from Sisseton Wahpeton Community College in May of 2007 with a accounting degree, and Associate of Arts degree. She then returned to Watertown as a realty accountant. She was a member of the American Legion Post and VFW Post. She enjoyed beading, reading, and enjoyed spending time with her son. Judy passed away on January 1, 2011 at her home in Watertown.
Judy is survived by her children, Isaiah, Tamara, and Noah, her husband Thomas Strutz, her fathers, Eugene Crawford of Sisseton, SD and Richard Vig of Huron, SD; brothers, Korry Bertsch of Red Iron Lake, Keith Crawford of Burlington, CO, and Beau Crawford of Watertown, SD, Norman and Ole Vig of Huron, SD; sisters, Shannon Christopherson of Redwood Falls, MN, Trisha Jo Crawford of Tama, IA and Carmen Crawford of Sisseton, SD, Lisa and Lenore Vig of Huron, SD; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Crawford, and grandmothers, Maude Abraham and Lillian Christenson.
