Funeral Service for Juanitta Keeble, 63, of Grenville, SD will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Pastor Nippy Owen and Pastor Morgan Redday officiating. Pianists Kay Burshiem and Billy Kohl and special music by Peever Jamboree Friends. Pallbearers will be Paul Keeble, Donovan Keeble, Boyd Keeble, Jason Renville, Jerome Renville Sr., Joe Wise, Billy Keeble, and Tim White. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daphne Garland, Gladys Renville, Lila Renville, Cheryl Renville, Jewel Humphrey, Shirley Wise, Mary Ann Smeltzer, Barbara Owen, Sophrona Crawford, Della Bernard, Darlene Redday, Robin Keeble, Lita Grey, Andrea Grey, and all the Peever Jamboree Friends. Interment will be in the Keeble Cemetery, Pickeral Lake. Wake Services will be held at the Tribal Community Center at 7:00 PM on Monday and an all night wake service on Tuesday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Juanitta was born on June 17, 1950 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to Charles and Mary (Puryear) Wise. She grew up and attended school in Kentucky. Following her education she was united in marriage and cared for her daughter. Juanitta was very involved with her church group and was traveling around the country singing in a gospel choir. This is where she met her future husband, Franklin Keeble Sr., and she moved to South Dakota in 1979. They were united in marriage on July 17, 1981 at the First Baptist Church, in Sisseton, SD. They made their home at Pickeral Lake. She worked at Tekakwitha Nursing Center for a while, and then she worked at Tekakwitha Adolescent Treatment Center. She loved to cook, bake, and plant flowers. She loved her children and stepchildren and was always giving advice to them. She loved country and blue grass music. She sang in many Jamborees and was a lead singer in the Prairie Winds Band. Juanitta and Franklin adopted and raised their grandson Billy Keeble. She loved and cared for him immensely. Juanitta passed away suddenly on March 29, 2014 at her home.
Juanitta is survived by her husband, Franklin Keeble Sr. of Grenville, SD; one daughter, Mary Ann Smeltzer of Hodgenville, Kentucky; one son Billy Keeble of Grenville, SD; step children, Donovan Keeble of Sisseton SD, Julie Watts of Sisseton, SD, Cheryl Renville of Sisseton, SD, Jerome Renville Sr. of Peever, SD, Gladys Renville of Sisseton, SD, Lila Renville of Sisseton, SD, Daphne Garland of Sisseton, SD, Paul Keeble of Sisseton SD, Boyd Keeble of Abercrombie, ND; five sisters, Alma Newton of Hodgenville, KY, Alice Taylor of Hodgenville, KY, Jewel Humphrey of Hodgenville, KY, Patricia Wise of Detroit, MI, and Shirley Wise of Hodgenville, KY; three grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Juanitta was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; four step children, Franklin Keeble Jr., Leta Keeble, Sandra Keeble, and Sandra Renville; one step grandchild, Lakota Renville; and two step great grandchildren, Kaysen Runninghawk, and Jerome Renville III.
