Obituary

Funeral Service for Joshua A Thomas, Wasu Mahpiya "Hail Cloud", 30 Topeka, KS formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Old Agency District Center, Old Agency, South Dakota at 10:00 A.M. followed by dinner than burial. Arvol Looking Horse will be the Traditional Medicine Man.   Pall Bearers will be Brandon Miller, Tanner Miller, Joseph Owen,   Milton Denny, Vance Thompson, Wakinyan Thomas.   Honorary Pall Bearers will be Ernie Keeble, Heath Keoke, Casey Flute, Travis Thompson, LaVoy Jackson, Elijah Blackthunder, Felix Johnson Jr., Tiospa Zina Classmates of 2009, United Tribe Classmates of 2010, and The Thomas Family of Santee, Nebraska. Interment will be in St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Wake Services will be held at the Old Agency District Center, Old Agency, South Dakota on Saturday, August 29, 2020 and Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Joshua was born on January 3, 1990 to Gary Lee Thomas and Marylou Thompson in Sisseton, SD. He graduated from Tiospa Zina Tribal School and attended United Tribes Technical College at Bismarck, ND until the birth of his daughter WaDuta Win (Baduta). He worked at Target Distribution Center in Topeka, KS. A job he loved and said was the best job in the world. Josh was so loving and caring about his daughter, showing her skills in gaming. He and she would talk and just hang out and spend time together. Joshua passed away on August 22, 2020 at his home in Topeka, KS.

Joshua is survived by his daughter, WaDuta Win Thomas of Sisseton, SD; his mother, Marylou Thompson of Sisseton, SD   Three sisters, Randi Thompson of Peever, SD, Summer Dawn Eagle Elk of Rosebud, SD and Angel Marks of Sisseton, SD; three brothers, Darrell Quinn Jr. of Sisseton, SD, Christopher Thomas and Daniel Thomas of Seattle, WA; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews of Santee, NE.

Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Gary Thomas and one sister, Nicole Thomas, his little brother from a another mother DeCoteau (Coto) Jackson, many cousins, uncles, aunts and maternal grandparents Susan & Nathan Thompson and paternal grandparents Albert & Linda Thomas.

A special thank you Rocky Jackson, Shon Jackson and Lisa for accepting my son into your home and making him feel welcomed.
