Funeral Service for Josephine I. Bubak, 91, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. The Rev. Paul Osborne will be officiating. Pianist will be Vivian Hove. Pallbearers will be Charles Bubak Jr., Tad Rizer, Lyle and Marvin Bubak, Alan Schmidt and Neil Long. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Josephine's Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren. Interment will be in the Peever Cemetery, Peever, SD. There will be visitation on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday.
Josephine Irene Pomrenke was born on February 10, 1920 in Perkins County, SD to Herman J. and Mary Etta (Campbell) Pomrenke.
She attended country school. Following her education she helped her parents and also helped other families with household chores. In 1936 the family moved to Roberts County and she was united in marriage to Stanley Bubak on October 24, 1943 in Savanna, GA. Following Stanley's discharge from the service they returned to Sisseton and raised their family. Josephine did babysitting, worked at the Kittleson Hotel and the A & W. She liked to play the violin and harmonica. She also liked to sew and study her bible. Josephine was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Josephine passed away on December 17, 2011 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.
Josephine is survived by two sons, Ralph and wife, Gay Bubak of Valley View, TX and Charles Bubak of Henderson, NV; two sisters, Rose Fleischhacker of Sisseton, SD, and Daisy Fleischhacker of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Wallace Pomrenke of Pierz, MN; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, three sisters and one infant sibling.
