Funeral Service for Joseph Vincent Paul Jr., 55, of Waubay, South Dakota will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Rev. Mike Simon and Fillmore Simon CLP officiating. Organist will be Kaye Bursheim. Pallbearers will be Ray and Vern Rouillard, Merle Redbear, Ives Eagle, Clement White, and William Cavanaugh. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All of Joseph's Family, Friends, and the Dialysis Staff" Interment will be in the Mayasan Presbyterian Cemetery, Claire City, SD. There will be an all night wake on Friday, April 2, 2010 starting at 7:00 PM at the Tribal Community Center.
Joseph Vincent Paul Jr. was born on August 12, 1954 at Sisseton, SD to Joseph Vincent and Karen (Redfox) Paul Sr. He grew up and attended school in Veblen, SD and the Wahpeton Indian School. After his education Joseph worked for local area farmers. He was married to Gladys White on January 24, 1981. Joseph worked in the maintenance Dept. for Dakota Sioux Casino for ten years. He worked until his health forced him to retire. Joseph liked to listen to music, play cards and enjoyed going to Casinos and playing Bingo. He passed away on March 28, 2010 at the Tekakwitha Living Center after a lengthy illness.
Joseph is survived by two children, Joseph E. Paul III and Sara Paul both of Waubay, SD, ten brothers and sisters, Stanley Paul and David Paul of Veblen, SD, Verna Paul of Moorhead, MN, Carolyn Cavanaugh of Tokio, ND, Dennis Paul of Moorhead, MN, Donna Paul of Bismarck, ND, Ranae St. John of Devils Lake, ND, Emerson St. John of Moorhead, MN, Cynthia St. John of Fargo, ND, and Kenneth St. John of Moorhead, MN, and four grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Nathaniel, and one grandson Nathaniel.
