Funeral Service for Joni Lee Cloud-Hedrick "Smiley", 52, of Minneapolis, MN will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency, SD with Senior Catechist John Cloud III, Katie McKay and Charles James Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Pallbearers will be Julius Cloud, Zachary Rikimoto, Jeremiah Johnson, Jr., Ruger Johnson, Reid Johnson, Dominic Abeita, Alise Jackson, Sharon Abeita, Nya Rikimoto, Maleah Johnson, Sophia Cloud, Abrielle Cloud, Veronica Cloud, Ashleigh Cloud-Shohn, Jessi-Ann Flute and Itewin Cloud. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Joni's Friends and Family. Interment will be St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Browns Valley, South Dakota. There will be all night Wake Services at the SWO Tribal Community Center on Saturday, November 9, 2024 and Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 7:00 M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Joni Lee Cloud was born on March 3, 1972 in Minneapolis, MN to Floyd Roland Cloud Sr. and Sharon Ann Small. Joni lived in San Diego, CA., Chicago, IL. and Minneapolis, MN. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, drawing, listening to old school and L.L. Cool J. music, cooking, watching old sitcoms, her favorite being in the Heat of The Night. She liked sightseeing, she was charitable, compassionate, silly, outgoing and always willing to open up her home to those in need. Her favorite sport team was the Green Bay Packers. Joni passed away at her home in Minneapolis, MN on November 4, 2024.
Joni is survived by her husband Michael Hedrick of Minneapolis, MN; her son Cody Griffin of Milwaukee, Wi.; her grandchildren Aniyah Porter, Sincere Griffin, Samara Griffin, Errol Griffen, and A'nyla Bridges; her mother Sharon and stepfather John Nerison of New Effington, SD; two brothers Elton Flute Jr. of Ipswich, SD and Floyd Cloud Jr. of New Effington, SD; six sisters Vonnie Flute of Fargo, ND, Alexis Flute of Wilmar, MN, Melissa Flute-Alexander of Rhode Island, Marie (Jeremiah) Johnson Sr. of New Effington, SD, Jalee Nerison of Minneapolis, MN; and Jamie Nerison of Fargo, ND.
Joni was preceded in death by her father Floyd Cloud, Sr; paternal grandparents Gertrude and Iver Cloud Sr., Maternal Grandparents Sylvester and Gladys Small; brother Desmond Flute and niece Jessi-Ann Flute.
