Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. John W. Barrington, Sr., 87, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 in New Braunfels. Born on April 19, 1930 in Valparaiso, Indiana, he was the youngest son of the late Byron J. Barrington and Flossie L. (Hall) Barrington. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne. John is survived by his brother, James R. Barrington and his wife Dorothy; children, John W. Barrington, Jr. and his wife Stacey; Paul Barrington, his wife Judi, grandson John N. Barrington, and granddaughter Andrea Burris; Tim Barrington and his wife Cynthia. He also leaves host of nieces and nephews.
After graduating high school, John proudly served in the U.S. Army artillery between 1951-53. Having gone through basic at Ft. Jackson, SC, he served with the 932nd, and 887th Field Artillery Battalions of the 31st "Dixie" Division, stationed at various posts in the US and Germany. He was honorably discharged, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.
