Obituary

Funeral Services for Joanne Marie Wollan (Bendickson), 76, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, South Dakota with Pastor Jenkins officiating. Organist will be Ollie Yost with special  music by Pastor Jenkins.  Pallbearers will be Todd Landmark, Jeff Long, David Stillson, Howard Anderson, Robert VanHeel and Scott Anderson. Honorary Pallbearerws all NARFE Members. Interment will be at Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD.  Visitation will held on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  Arrangements are being handled by Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, South Dakota.

Joanne was born August 4, 1942 to Lawrence and Mary (Solin) Bendickson in Sisseton, South Dakota.  Joanne was very strong in her faith and proud to be a member of Grace Lutheran Church.   She attended school in Sisseton and graduated in 1961.  Joanne then attended Minneapolis Business College in Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked in dental offices in the Minneapolis area.  In 1965 Joanne returned to Sisseton to raise her boys closer to family.  She worked at the Sisseton City Bakery then at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital as an X-ray and Lab Tech for 19 years then at IHS for 12 years as an X-ray Tech.  After retiring, Joanne enjoyed working part-time at the Sisseton Flower Shop, the Doubletree Gallery and volunteering with NARFE and helping with class reunions. Joanne loved spending time with family and friends.   Everyone was always greeted with a big smile and hug. She always made holidays special for her family, baking everyone's favorites.   Joanne loved cross-stitching, crocheting, reading, puzzles, talking on the phone to family and friends, writing letters and sending cards for all holidays and special occasions.

Joanne Marie Wollan, loving mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the U of M, Minneapolis, MN surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her son Todd (Nicki) of Forest Lake, Minnesota; daughter in law, Tina Wollan of Watertown, South Dakota; grandchildren, Joshua Wollan, Steven Wollan and Jennifer (Chris) Wilson of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Christopher Wollan and Sarah Wollan of Watertown, South Dakota; great-grandchildren, McKenna and Axton Eckman of Watertown, South Dakota; siblings, Carmen Ostby of Wheaton, Minnesota, Marlin Bendickson of Bristol, Connecticut and Duwayne Bendickson of North Augusta, South Carolina; Nieces, Tami Ostby of Howard Lake, Minnesota and Sue (Dave) Morris of Belmont, Massachussets; Nephew, Tim (Marie) Ostby of Spicer, Minnesota, and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by son, Scott Wollan; parents Lawrence and Mary Bendickson.
