Obituary

Funeral Service for JoAnn Eloise Goldsmith, 70 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating. Organist will be Estelle Pearson and soloist will be Pat Schubert. Pallbearers will be Tom, Jarod, and Jason Jacobs, Wayne Fonder, Ellen Lekness and David Seurer. Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Joann's friends at Marshall County Courthouse and Roberts County Courthouse. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery. There will be visitation on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday.
JoAnn Eloise Erickson was born on January 29, 1942 in Sisseton, SD to Frederick and Alta (Nebben) Erickson. She graduated from Peever High School in 1960. She lived in Minneapolis, MN for a time. JoAnn was united in marriage to Larry Goldsmith on February 8, 1964 at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD. They made their home in Sisseton where JoAnn worked for the Roberts County and Marshall County Director of Equalization during the years of 1959-1980 and May1992 to the spring of 2011. She worked for the NESD Cap Office from November 1980 to April 1992. She enjoyed spending time at the Lake with family, friends and spending time with her four grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and her yard. JoAnn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Larry passed away February 2005. JoAnn passed away on June 20, 2012 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.
JoAnn is survived by four children, Todd and wife, Christine Goldsmith of Mobridge, SD; Sharie Goldsmith and William Radford of Minneapolis, MN; Lane Goldsmith of Mobridge, SD; and Lisa Goldsmith and husband, Michael Geist of Omaha, NE; one sister, Kay and her husband, Don Jacobs of Willmar, MN; one sister-in-law Donna Fonder of Sisseton, SD; four grandchildren, Alexandra Radford of Minneapolis, MN, Mary, Lynda, and Rachel Goldsmith of Mobridge, SD; one nieces and four nephew.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Alta Erickson, and her step father Millard Bakken; her husband, Larry, maternal and paternal grandparents.
