Jerry was born on August 23rd, 1958, in Sisseton SD to Bud and Arlet (Finnesand) Schaunaman. Jerry was baptized, confirmed, and a lifetime member of Emanual Lutheran Church in Sisseton. He graduated from Sisseton High School in 1976. After graduation, he went on to work alongside his dad; farming, custom combining, and at Schaunaman Implement.

Jerry married Kim Williams on July 19th, 1986, at Capitol Lake in Pierre, SD. Jerry worked for Sisseton Milbank Railroad (SMRR) in 1990 before moving to Rapid City where he resided and worked for DM&E Railroad beginning in 1993. They returned to Sisseton where they built their lives together, having 3 children, Taylor, Logan and Paige.  He returned to the Sisseton Milbank Railroad in 1997 where he worked as an Engineer until present time.

Jerry had many passions, including snowmobiling, volunteer firefighting, farming, mechanics, and most importantly, motorcycles. His other main passion was his family. He enjoyed family get-togethers, especially holidays, attending his grandchildren's activities, and surprise family visits on his motorcycle.

The best way to describe Jerry was kind, loving, caring, and someone who lived life to the absolute fullest. He was always available to be a listening ear without judgement and ALWAYS picked up the phone with a positive attitude. He would never hesitate to help a friend and show up when someone needed him.  He was a protector and provider to all who needed him, especially his family.

If Jerry were to be writing this, he would end it by saying that he went out doing what he loved, with the people he loved, going to the place he loved.

Jerry passed away on August 4, 2023, on his final ride to his favorite place, with his best friends; the Sturgis Bike Rally.

Jerry Don, keep riding and smiling.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Kim of Sisseton, SD; children, Taylor (Kris) Jochim of Rutland, ND, Logan (Kelsey) Schaunaman of Fargo, ND, and Paige Schaunaman of Sisseton, SD; son-in-law, Cody Valnes of Sisseton, SD; sisters, Marcia (Robert) Aiken of Spearfish, SD and Lois (Gary) Ermish of Auburn, WA; eight grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
