Funeral Service for Jerry Charles "Chaz" Renville will be on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Jerome Renville officiating. There will be an All-Night Wake starting at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. Drum Group will be Old Agency Singers. Military Rites by Kit Fox Society. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be Derek Kirk, Kris Kohl, Harvey Renville Jr., Skylar Thompson, Evan Wilson, and James Shindelbower. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy, David, Russell, & Frankie Barse, Harley Spider, Robert Kohl, and All his Friends from the Bowling Alley & Softball. Interment will be at St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery, Agency Village, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Jerry Charles "Chaz" Renville was born on October 13, 1937, in Sisseton, SD to David and Grace (Robertson) Renville. In his younger years, Jerry attended Old Agency Day School and Peever School. He was also a Peever Panther on the basketball team. At 16 years old, he joined the Air Force where he served his country and worked as a mechanic on jet engines from November 12, 1954, to November 30, 1958. After his service, he became a truck driver for the food distribution center in Old Agency. A while later, he began a career in construction where he did a variety of different jobs. In 1971, Jerry married Joan Renville and with this union had his children: Melody, Tamara, and Wade and stepchildren Fran, Ronald, Valerie, and Steven. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. Jerry was in a bowling league, coached softball, enjoyed playing horseshoes, and often snacked on suckers and seeds. He liked to play softball (was a good second baseman), spend time with family and friends playing pennyante and nerf, watch Old Westerns, do puzzle books, and play machines. Jerry often watched the Minnesota Vikings and Florida Seminoles and drank "Cloudies". Jerry passed away on November 16, 2025, at his home with family by his side.
Jerry is survived by his children Fran (Tommy) Kirk-Tease, Ronald Kirk, Valerie Kirk, Melody Renville, Tamara Friemel-Renville, Wade Renville, and Steven Owen; brother Harvey Renville Sr.; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents David and Grace (Robertson) Renville; his wife Joan; his siblings Violet B., Agusta, Ellergaine, Marcellaine, Louise, Juanita, Rachel, and Clifford; granddaughter Jeni Lee Kohl.
