Funeral Service for Jerome Mason Renville, Sr., Wahtani Hoksina, "Working Boy", 64, of Peever, SD will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village with Fr. Charles Chan, Pastor Vern Donnell, CRE Gerald Heminger Jr., John Cloud III and Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Drum Group will be Cante Eastman. Pall Bearers Louie Johnson, Mark Beaudreau, Jerry Eastman, Brian Kurrasch Jr.,  Ronnie Neilan,  Brad Gillespie, Weston Grant, Dusty Renville, Darian Shepherd and Mark Riofski.  Honorary Pall Bearers will be Brian "Cundi" Rodund Sr., Francis "Kojak" Heminger, Francis Crawford, Randy Murray, Thomas "Hammy" Marks, Brian Rodlund Jr., Moses Rodlund, Josh Laughter,  Carrie Godfrey, Josie Bertsch, Gabe Kampeska, Kevin Roberts, Glen Anderson, Isabella Ojeda, VMYC Softball Team, Patrick Deutsch Sr., Patrick Deutsch Jr., Scott Deutsch, Michelle Deutsch, Brandon Deutsch, Ronnie Goodsell Jr., Stacey Miller, Matt Keoke, Breon Lake & SWO Facilities Crew, SWO Building Maintenance Crew and All Moccasin  Players. Interment will be in St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery Agency Village, South Dakota.  All night Wake Services will be held at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village on Monday, January 16, 2023 and Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 6: 30 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Jerome was born in Sisseton SD, on May 20, 1958 to Loretta Renville and Franklin Keeble Sr/ Breezy Deutsch. He attended Sisseton Public Schools and later received his GED from the Sisseton Wahpeton College. Growing up he liked to hunt, fish, and work on cars with his uncles. He loved to play softball with the VMYC team, shoot pool down town. In the late 70's Jerome moved to Minneapolis MN, with his then companion Brenda Renville, they were united in marriage in 1985, and in this union they had four children; Jerome Jr, Jermaine, Brandon and Johnni. While in MN Jerome provided for his family by working at Clark's gas station and a meat processing plant. They eventually relocated and after 21 years Jerome and Brenda parted ways. In 2006, Jerome meet his companion Charlene Miller, and although they did not have any children together, they loved each other's children as their own. They spent the rest of his lifetime together enjoying the things they both loved to do. Camping, fishing, rodeos, auctions and casino time. Jerome danced "old style" men's traditional and enjoyed being on the powwow trail with his kids and powwow buddies. He had a strong passion for playing moccasin, he enjoyed being around his tahansi's. Jerome worked most of his life from the young age of 12 he would shovel driveways and other odd jobs "to make a buck" as he would say. He started working at the SWHA as Maintenance Inspector from 1985-95, Contractor Partnership with Duane Brown (D&J Construction) from 1995-97, TZTS Maintenance Engineer from 1997-2001, SWHA Contract Specialist 2001-03, SWO Construction Management/ Site Supervisor 2003-06. In 2007, Jerome accomplished his dream of becoming a Certified Auctioneer; he was so proud of this achievement. He conducted auctions and auctioned off a few garters for family weddings. He sure enjoyed showing off his talent! Jerome served in many capacities throughout Tribal Government. Tero Commission, Fish & Wildlife Commission, and Chairman for the Old Agency District. Jerome also served as Councilman for Old Agency from 2011-2014. He worked tirelessly to support his family and believed in caring for the people of The Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate. Many people knew him for his sense of humor; he could brighten up a room with his smile and a simple joke. In 2017, Jerome was hired as the Building Manager for the SWO Tribal Administration Building. He worked in this position until the time of his passing. Our dad definitely lived up to his Indian name Wahtani Hoksina "working boy" which was given to him by his mom Loretta. Jerome is a beloved father and grandfather whose teachings will continue with his children and grandchildren. Let us honor him through humor and laughter.  "Until we meet again My Friend."

Jerome is survived by his significant other Charlene Miller of Peever, S\D; his children, Jerome Renville Jr. of Peever, SD, Jermaine (Jerry) Eastman of Sisseton, SD, Brandon Renville of Peever, SD, and Johnni (Weston Grant) Renville of Bismarck, ND and step children, Brianna (Mark) Riofski of Apple Valley, MN, Brian Kurrasch of Prior lake, MN, Brittany Kurrasch of Wilmot, SD, Brayden Kurrasch of Peever, SD, Zach Helmberger, Marshall, Helmberger, and Claire Helmberger; Nineteen grandchildren, Dusty Renville, Jerome Renville III, Kaycee Renville, Kelcee Renville, Ty Renville, Darian Shepherd, Cante Eastman, Tasia Eastman, Jernee Eastman, Jerry Eastman Jr., Zakarius Renville, Yossiana Black Thunder, Braxton Grant, Audrey Riofski, Lucy Riofski, Xana Amos, Zane Amos, Haven Goodteacher, and Maylee Goodteacher; five great grandchildren, Daxton, Stetzon, Creed Renville, Koe and Kinzley Heinecke. two brothers, Paul Keeble and Boyd Keeble of Sisseton, SD; four sisters, Cheryl Renville of Sisseton, SD, Gladys Renville of Watertown, SD, Lila Renville of Sisseton, SD and Daphne Keeble of Sisseton, SD; Father Franklin Keeble, Sr. of Grenville, SD and "Mama Pat" Helmberger of Tower, MN.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents Loretta Renville & Breezy Deutsch; brothers Franklin "Babe" Keeble Jr., James Carson and an infant brother; three sisters, Sandra Keeble, Sandra Keeble an Leta Keeble and one grandson Jerome Renville III.
