Funeral Mass for Jeanette Justina Okroi, 95, of Grenville, SD will be held on Tuesday, December 27 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, SD with Fr. Kenneth Lulf Celebrant. Organist will be Basil Knebel with Congregation singing. Urn Bearer will be Susan Liknes. Honorary Urn Bearers will be all of Jeanette's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. There will be visitation one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Grenville, SD in the spring. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Jeanette Justina Gaikowski was born on October 7, 1927 at her home Grenville, SD to Joseph and Mary (Lewno) Gaikowski. Jeanette was baptized on October 9, 1927 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, SD. She lived her entire life in the Grenville area. She attended country school.  Jeanette was united in marriage to Ben Okroi on June 9, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, SD. She worked side by side with her husband milking cows, farming and ranching. The Family owned several school buses and while under contract with the Roslyn Consolidated School District, she made sure they were cleaned inside and shined outside. She worked temporary jobs at Roslyn Rest home and the Alco Store in Sisseton. She worked at Bur Oak a local restaurant on the south side of Enemy Swim. She also worked for Schlitz Foods, Sisseton, SD during the goose processing season. She owned and operated "Jeanette's Hen House" which included selling bait and tackle, ceramic statuettes, and flower arrangements located on the NW side of Pickeral Lake which featured her own creation of the "Twenty-five Cent Bag of Mixed Candy" which many kids requested. The most important thing she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.  Jeanette was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, SD and was a member of the Church Rosary Society and currently in capacity of a retired band member. She enjoyed her hobbies of putting flower arrangements together for weddings or special occasions for whoever requested floral arrangements. She enjoyed creating ceramic statuettes, growing her flower and vegetable gardens which included a wide variety of weeds. She enjoyed short travel trips with various families. Jeanette passed away on December 17, 2022 at Sanford Hospital; Webster, SD.

Jeanette is survived by three children, Dennis (Darla) Okroi, Kenneth (Rosanne) Okroi and Susan (Corey) Liknes all of Grenville, SD; fifteen grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren, two sisters, Esther  Zirbel of Webster, SD and Delores Gronke of Waubay, SD; and one sister-in-law Bonnie  Gaikowski of Waubay, SD.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Gaikowski; her husband, Ben Okroi; and two sons and daughter in-laws, Lawrence (Rosemarie) and Henry (Beverly); four brothers and three sister in-laws, Stanley (Caroline) Gaikowski, Roman (Rosemary) Gaikowski, Henry (Delores) Gaikowski's, and Raymond Gaikowski; one sister and brother-in-law, Marian (Eugene) Gollnick; three brother in-laws, Dale Zirbel, Sylvester (Gene) Gollnick, and Ernest Gronke.
