The Memorial Service for Janice Jean "Jeanne" Brown of Sisseton, SD and formerly of Webster, SD will be on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Familylife Assembly of God Church in Sisseton, SD with Rev. Richard Stierlen and Pastor Robert Beasley officiating. There will be a time of remembrance from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. before the service on Wednesday at the church. Private family inurnment of her cremains will take place at a later time at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bryant, SD.
Janice passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday July 18, 2015 at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD.
Janice was born October 2, 1948 to Vernon and Ellen Mae (Knudsen) Brown in Watertown, SD. She grew up and attended school in Bryant, SD graduating in 1966. Immediately after high school she attended Lake Area VoTech and graduated as a cosmetologist. She worked in Madison for a short time and later owned and operated Jan's 11th Ave Salon for many years until ill health forced her to retire.
Janice loved life and was a very generous hearted, thoughtful person always thinking of others first. She enjoyed all types of crafts, sewing, music, reading and "scrap-booking". She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her faith was very important to her. She attended Faith Assembly of God Church while living in Webster.
Grateful for having the privilege of sharing her life are her parents and brother James "Jimmy" Brown who have preceded her in death and her surviving sisters Joan Giedd Brown and daughters Angela and Sandy, all of Sioux Falls, SD and Beverly (Roger) Jensen of Langford, SD and their children Kari (Ryan) Furman, Kristina (Rich) England, and Bill (Kelly) Jensen.
Honorary urnbearers's will be all of her great nieces and nephews: Chloe Furman, Connor Furman, Max England, Sophia England, Arabella Jean England, Hunter Jensen, Josie Jensen, Rylie Jensen, Bryant Bollinger, Amanda Bollinger, Hannah Bollinger and Noah Bollinger.
