Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation from 1:00 P.M. to service time. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD
James Roy Odegaard was born on May 15, 1945 in Sisseton, SD to Wincent "Roy" and June Margaret (Simon) Odegaard. He was the oldest of seven children and grew up in Sisseton, SD. He married Flora Ducheneaux in Webster City, IA on December 18, 1965.
Jim was a mechanic all his life and owned and operated Jim's Repair in Sisseton until 1989 when he and Flora moved to Aberdeen, SD. He was always good at tinkering, building, creating and repairing anything put in front of him. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobile excursions. Later in life he worked at Wylie Park Campground and at Walmart assembling bicycles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He was always ready to carve pumpkins and dye easter eggs and was "Grandpa's Taxi" for many years. He also enjoyed camping, gardening, family get-togethers, NSU basketball games and going to Bodega Bay, CA.
Jim married Judith Martinez at Falls Park, Sioux Falls, SD on October 9, 2016 and resided in Santa Rosa, CA until the time of his death.
Jim is survived by his wife Judith Martinez, daughters Tina Foell, Anita (John) Borchard, Denise (Jason) Reif. Granddaughters Stacie "Lucy" and Melissa Foell, Danielle and Sarah Borchard, Michaela Odegaard-Millard, Hailey and Meghan Odegaard. Great granddaughters Maesyn and Kennedy and Great grandson Brennan. Brother Rodney (Tammy) Odegaard and Sister Sandra (Grant) Parsons along with many extended family.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Roy and June, brothers Howard and Lowell Odegaard and sisters Rhonda Odegaard and Pamela (Odegaard)White and many extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held in the spring with interment at Sisseton Cemetery.
Rest in Peace Dad and Arrivederci … until we meet again!
