Funeral Service for Jade Kristen Brant, 42, of New Effington, SD will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center in Agency Village, SD. There will be a wake service from 7:00-9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, and Thursday, December 4, 2025, and an all-night wake service on Friday, December 5, 2025, starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Community Center. Jade was born to Ronald Brant and Melynda High Bear on June 15, 1983, in Gettysburg, SD. She attended Crossroads preschool in Minneapolis, MN and later attended several grade schools in Minneapolis, MN including Heart of the Earth Survival School. In her high school years, Jade went to the Tiospa Zina High School in Agency Village, SD and Sisseton High School. While she did not obtain a high school diploma, she worked towards getting her G.E.D later in life. Jade held various part time jobs and often made beadwork- a skill she was naturally gifted in. In her junior years, she was a champion fancy shawl dancer and was also a jingle dress dancer. Throughout her life, Jade enjoyed traveling, going to powwows, and going to round dances. Due to her love of traveling, Jade lived in many places such as Minneapolis, Sisseton, Canada, and Shakopee. During her time in Shakopee, she met Dustin Zephier and two children were born to this union: Jasten and Winona. She then moved to Sisseton where she has resided since. One of her biggest joys in life was being a mother, older sister, and aunt. Her children were the greatest thing she accomplished, and she was a very loving and affectionate mother. A year ago, she began dating Jared Redday, someone she had known her whole life. Jade loved arts and crafts, cooking, watching cooking shows, and spending time with family and friends. She was a natural leader – a kind, calm spirit to those around her. She was also the life of the party who energized any room she walked in. Jade started her journey to the Star Camp on November 26, 2025, in Sisseton, SD. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jade is survived by her children; Jasten Stone Zephier and Winona Rita Zephier; parents, Ronald Brant and Melynda High Bear; sisters, Angel Brant and Shannda Brant; brother, Wambli Brant; boyfriend, Jared Redday and numerous other family and friends.

Jade was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Amy High Bear and Paul Blue Earth; paternal grandparents, Rose Blossom Johnson and Norman Brant; brother, Jarred Brant; and sister Kelly Brant; close cousins Kara Dirtseller, Serena Brant, Sunrise Hart Sr.; aunts Inez Owen, Olivia Eastman, Cynthia Starr, Rita Holy Bull, Margy Miner, Beatrice Meservey, Paulette High Bear, Pauline High Bear, Barbara Iron Wing; uncles Martin High Bear, Joseph High Bear, Richard High Bear, Carl High Bear, Terry High Bear, Alcott Brant Sr., Mike Brant, Gary Brant Sr., and Stacey Brant and numerous other family and relatives.
