Funeral Service for Jack Barse, Ohitika Najin Wicasta "tough standing man"45, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Kateri's Hall, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell and St. Mary's Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason LaFontaine, Austin Barse, Justin Barse, Arnold Williams, Bill Felix, Stanley Barse Jr. Jacob Barse, Ride Dirtseller, Travis Max, Lawren Barse, Gary White Jr, David Barse, and Russell Barse. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrell DeCoteau, Phillip Barse, Jeremy Barse, Elliott Barse, Mason Kohl, Gabe Desrosiers, Simon Keeble, Cody Dumarce, Gabe Kampeska, Troy Barse, Bruce German, all Basketball players he coached through the years and all his nephews.   Pianist will be Billy Kohl and Drum Group will be Noisy Bear.  Interment will be in the St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery, Agency Village, SD. There will be wake services on Tuesday, October 13, and Wednesday, October 14, 2020 starting at 7:00 PM at St. Kateri's Hall, Sisseton, SD. Social distancing and masks are recommended. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Jack Frank Barse "Ohitika Najin Wicasta" was born on July 19. 1975 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Frank Barse and Mona Williams. He was named after his grandfather Frank (Jack) Barse. He attended school at Big Coulee Head Start, Peever Elementary, Sisseton Middle School, Sisseton High School and graduated from Tiospa Zina Tribal School in 1993. He played basketball and football in high school. Later in life Jack took up bowling and golf, he even bowled a perfect 300 game. Jack and his sons spent their summers out on the golf course; he enjoyed coaching their traveling basketball teams "Tiwahe Tapa" and took them too many tournaments. Jack loved fishing, hunting, reading, going to the casino and doing scratch tickets, he was an avid Chicago bears fan. He supported his children in their sporting events and was very proud of them. Jack worked at the Wahpeton Indian School, Dakota Magic Casino, Dakota Sioux Casino, Dakota Western in Veblen, and at the Sisseton Wahpeton Housing Authority. Jack met his soul mate Nadine in 1997; in this union they started their family, their daughter Paige, sons Ryan, Jack Jr., Caleb, and Frankie. He adored his grandchildren, Jaxon, Lily and Zayne. His family was everything to him.

Jack is survived by his wife Nadine, children Paige, Ryan, Jack Jr. Caleb, and Frankie, his father Frank, mother Mona Williams, brothers Arnold, Justin, Austin, Sisters Lisa, Janessa and Jonita, and his grandchildren Jaxon, Lily, and Zayne, maternal grandmother Yvonne Williams.

Jack is preceded in death by his sister Rosanna, two infant brothers, maternal grandfather Ed Williams, paternal grandparents Frank and Violet Barse and nephew Jalen.
