Memorial Service for Ione June Lufkins, 83 of Sisseton, SD is canceled due to the weather.  Services will be rescheduled in the Spring.

Ione June Lufkins was born on February 18, 1938 in Sisseton, SD to Henry and Susan (Harris) Lufkins. She attended Flandreau Indian School and Long Hollow Day School. Ione was married to Williard LaFromboise. Ione attended Northern State College and earned her LPN license. In 1984 she moved to Minneapolis, MN until 1995 when she moved to Detroit Lakes and then 1996 moved to Moorhead, MN. She returned to Sisseton and made her home until her death. She liked to play 10,000, dice and flinch. She enjoyed traveling. She sewed many quilts. She helped many people by letting them stay or giving them a ride. Ione passed away on December 22, 2021 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.

Ione is survived by one son, Willard Scott of Wisconsin; one brother, Carl Lufkins of Sisseton, SD and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ione was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willard LaFromboise; one brother, William Lufkins; four sisters, Veronica Firecloud, Sophrona LaBlanc, Ramona Smith and Patricia Maskewit
