Memorial Service for Henrietta L. Hopper, 73, of Waubay, SD will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with visitation one hour prior to services at the chapel. There will be a meal at the Enemy Swim Community Center following the services. Mike Price will be conducting the service at the chapel and there will be private inurnment services at a later date. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Henrietta was born on November 28, 1942 in Sisseton, SD to Margaret (White) and Christian Gill. She attended school in Enemy Swim, SD until they moved to California and she graduated from San Fernando High School. Henrietta was married to Jim Hopper and they lived in California until they returned to South Dakota. Henrietta was a licensed social worker and she worked for the SWO Child Protection Program for over twelve years. After retirement she worked part time for the Enemy Swim Headstart Program. She enjoyed working with and helping children. Henrietta was a dedicated member of the Jehovah Witness congregation. She also enjoyed quilting, cooking, collecting stamps and coins, picnics, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Henrietta passed away on February 20, 2016 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her family.
Henrietta is survived by her sister, Myrna Achterberg of California; brothers, Gayle Gill of ND, Sony Gill of California, Keith Gill of Roslyn, SD, Chris Gill of California; her children, David Hopper of San Dimas, CA, Mike Hopper of Wahpeton, ND, Deanna Hopper of Browns Valley, MN, Sean Hopper of Waubay, SD, Ian Hopper of Anaheim, CA, Eric Hopper of Waubay, SD; and two adopted children, Waylon Greeley of Rapid City, SD and Heather Volkert of Montana; her grandchildren, Derrick Mcauley, Adam Kriz, Jeneva Kriz, Malana Kriz, Collin Hopper, Bethany Hopper, Misty Fields, Jessica Hopper, Joselyn Hopper, Jeena Hopper, Jayleen Hopper, Dustin Hopper, Dillinger Hopper, Lahonna Hopper and Dylan Volkert; great grand children, Malia, Tanner, Constant, Horizon, Lucy, Abel, Rose and Kayden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hopper; sisters, Sandra and Patricia; brother, Alvin; and her parents Margaret and Christian.
