Funeral Service for Heidi Jean (Backman) Mack, 37 of Castlewood,  SD will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Thomas Mueller officiating  Organist will be Steve Eneboe.  Pallbearers will be Ben Garrison Justin Garrison, Alex Thompson, Mason Whiting, Charlie Whiting, Garrett Backman, Jake Backman, Drew Bajumpaa, Nick Backman and Dirk Backman.  Honorary Pall Bearers will be Heidi's Cousins Gracie Ebsen, Emmi Ebsen, Hannah Thompson, Jacklynn Whiting, Ryleigh Backman, Kaylee Backman, Elisha Sladek and Katrina Bajumpaa; Aunts and Uncles Kathy & Eric Garrison, Christine & Jeremy Ebsen, Laurie & Gerod Thompson, Stacey Meister, Ron & Cassie Backman, Jim & Dawn Backman and Karen & Don Bajumpaa.  Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Wilmot, SD.  There will be visitation at the Cahill Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.  The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Heidi was born December 18, 1985, to Randy and Jean (Meister) Backman.  Heidi graduated from Sisseton High School in Sisseton SD.  She married Lucas Mack on June 16, 2007.  They were blessed with two children, daughter Ashlynn and son Dalton Mack.  They made their home in Castlewood SD.

Heidi worked at Premier Bankcard in Watertown SD for 16 years.  She was currently a Senior Unit Manager Customer Service.  She was a dedicated employee and cherished her coworkers.

Heidi loved to help people.  She enjoyed donating her time.  She assisted with the Watertown Premier Bankcard United Way Program, delivered Meals on Wheels and spent time with the Junior Achievement Program in the Watertown Area School District.  She recently was becoming more involved with the Watertown Area Swim Club.

Heidi was very family oriented.  She loved her family dearly and made sure to tell them that often.  Heidi had a radiant smile that could always make your day better.  She was beautiful inside and out.  She enjoyed coming to the farm every chance she got.  She liked to help with the cattle, crops and fixing on the equipment.  Heidi Jean (Backman) Mack, age 37 of Castlewood SD passed away on August 20, 2023, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo ND, surrounded by her family.

Heidi is survived by her husband, Lucas of Castlewood, SD two children, Ashlynn and Dalton Mack of Castlewood, SD; her parents Jean and Randy Backman of Peever, SD; one sister Tori Backman of Castlewood, SD; one brother Austin Backman of Peever, SD; her paternal grandparents, June and Donnie Backman of Wilmot, SD and maternal grandparents, Phyllis and Ron Meister of Milbank, SD.

Heidi was preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents, Gladys and Edgar Meister and Charles and Irma Erp; her paternal great grandparents, Ingvald and Stella Storley, and Julius and Mary Backman.

Rest in peace Heidi.  You will forever be missed and never forgotten.
