Obituary

Memorial Service for Dr. Harry "Doc" Burrish, 57, of Sisseton, will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Suzie Benidt officiating, with special music by Estelle and Roger Pearson, and Kalli Grimsrud and Pat Schubert. Urn Bearer will be Brett Schumacher. There will be visitation on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel. There will be visitation one hour prior to the Memorial Service on Tuesday at the church. Harry was born on November 4, 1953 in Aberdeen, SD to Harry J. and Margaret (Galbraith) Burrish. Harry attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1972. He attended college at South Dakota State University and graduated in1976. He went on to Iowa State University and graduated in 1980. Harry was united in marriage to Randa Schumacher on October 18, 1980 in Aberdeen, SD. In 1980 he joined Dr. Pallesen at the Sisseton Veterinary Service. Dr. Randy Beumer joined Dr. Burrish in August of 1981. In 1985 Dr. Burrish and Dr. Beumer built the Sisseton Veterinary Clinic to accommodate both large and small animals. Harry continued to practice until he retired in 2003. Harry was an eagle scout, and he belonged to The SD Veterinary Medical Assn., American Veterinary Medical Assn, Roberts County Shooting Sports and The Pickerel Lake United Sunday School. Harry loved to hunt, fish, hunt, fish, hunt, and fish. Harry passed away on April 9, 2011 at his home in Sisseton, SD.
Harry is survived by his wife, Randa Burrish of Sisseton, SD; one brother, Gene (Ann) Burrish of Sioux Falls, SD; and one sister, Linda (Merlyn) Stuvland of Dent, MN; and special nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials can be given to Roberts County Shooting Sports, or SDVMA Student Scholarship Fund.
