Funeral Service for Harriet Jean Pearson, 71, of Redbird, MO, formerly of Browns Valley, Minnesota will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley, MN, with Rev. Paul Warnier officiating. Organist will be Ginny Westbrock. Pallbearers will be Leonn and Allen Greiner, Loren Foley, James Hutchins, and Roger Mielke. Interment will be in the Wilmot City Cemetery, Wilmot, SD. There were services held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville, MO. There will be visitation on Friday, April 15, 2011 one hour prior to services at the church, The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of local arrangements, with the Sassmann Funeral Service of Bland, MO.
Harriet was born on August 14, 1939 in Graceville, MN to Harry and Selma (Greiner) Wilke. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley, MN. The family moved to St. Paul in 1952, and operated the Wescott Grocery. She attended school in Rosemont, MN and graduated in 1958. Harriet was united in marriage to Doug Pearson on December 13, 1958. Together they cared for 13 foster children, and adopted their daughter, Marie. Harriet was Doug's partner for over 52 years, and they were rarely apart. They worked together on many farm and construction projects. Harriet and Doug moved to the Bland, MO area in the fall of 1962, when they became managers of the Elkhead Lodge. Harriet enjoyed feeding birds, raising flowers, and house plants. She loved antiques and restoring them. She also was a realtor for Century 21, and was a clerk in the Antique Shop in St. James, MO. Harriet was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville, MO. She passed away on April 11, 2011 at the Capitol Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO.
Harriet is survived by her husband Doug, one sister Betty Schleh of New London, MN, and two nieces Debora Foley, of Plymouth, MN and Peggy Schleh and daughter Abella of New Hope, MN.
Harriet was preceded in death by her daughter and her parents, May God bless the memory of Harriet Pearson.
