Funeral Service for Harold Allen Raymond, 73 of Wilmot, SD will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center, Peever, SD with CLP Jr. Heminger officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be Jayson Peniska, Brandon Lake, Kaitlyn Fleihs, Matthew Fleihs, Richard Lake, Breon Lake and Justin Peniska. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All of Larry's Friends and Family". Interment will be in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Peever, SD. There will be visitation at the Big Coulee District Center one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Harold Allen Raymond was born on January 13, 1942 in Winnebago, Nebraska to LeRoy and Kathryn (Redwing) Raymond. He passed away on October 5, 2015 in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 73. When he was young he was given the nickname "Larry" and has gone by that name ever since. Larry grew up traveling across the U.S. to wherever his fathers work took them. After the passing of his parents Larry began living with his Auntie Ione and Jess Peniska. They lived in Arizona for a short time where he attended school to obtain job skills. In the early 60's they moved to South Dakota. Larry enjoyed working for local farmers picking rock and hauling bales. After Ione became ill, Larry lived with his cousins Lloyd and Laurie and became big brother to his little cousins. Larry entered the Wilmot Care Center in March of 2015. Larry loved to play basketball and would often spend all day in front of the hoop. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle all over Wilmot where he became friends with many. He always greeted everyone by name. He will be greatly missed and thought of often.
Left to cherish his memory are many cousins, including Lloyd and Laurie Peniska of Wilmot, SD, Tim and Kathy Lake of Watertown, SD, Melvin Lake of Flandreau, SD, Donald Lake of Denver, CO, and Gerald Lake of Fargo, ND as well as hundreds of "Buddies" he met throughout his lifetime.
