Haley was born on April 24, 1992 at Sisseton, South Dakota to David and Rosanne (Ironheart) Bartunek. Haley graduated from Tiospa Zina Tribal School in April of 2009 after just turning 17 years old. She loved to spend her time writing and was always reading up on things on her computer. She believed in keeping herself informed. She had an after school job at Hippen's for a bit and then at Reprint Bedding and continued working there after she graduated. She enjoyed her job. She was very sad when her boss Alan passed away and Reprint closed down. After this she spent her time helping care for her nephew Santino and niece Hayden. She loved them both so much! She always wanted to teach them things as a wise Auntie would. She shared the love of gaming with Santino and had patience to play Barbie or whatever else Hayden wanted to play with her.

Haley enjoyed the time she had with her family. As a young girl she was the "play organizer" with her cousins, often coming up with ideas of "what to do next."Although, our Haley was a shy and private person, she was loved by those who knew her for her sense of humor and quick wit. She was adored by her grandparents. Her grandpa Dwight nicknamed her "Haley Dawn Cutie Pie." Haley had a great love for animals, while working at Reprint, she rescued three kittens.   She had two pets she cared for at the time of her passing who are lost without her, her cat "Jimmy" and dog "Morty." There is so much more that we can say about Haley Dawn, our hearts are broken because she was loved so much! We will see you again baby! Until then, Jesus will hold you in his arms and Grandma and Grandpa along with Uncle Rod will be with you, and loving you as always!

The family would like to thank all those involved in Haley's medical care. The CDP emergency room staff, Sanford Critical Care Unit staff in Fargo, ND, and all those who offered prayers and words of comfort and support.

Haley is survived by her parents, Rosanne (Ironheart) and David W. Bartunek, of Peever, SD; one brother, Chandler Bartunek, of Peever, SD; one sister, Ariana Bartunek, of Peever, SD; paternal grandmother, Joan Feather, of Peever, SD; one niece Hayden Bartunek; one nephew Santino Bartunek, of Peever, SD; uncles and aunts, Renetta and Jonathan Goeson, of Sisseton, SD, Rita and Rick Stebbing, of Granite Falls, MN, Rhoda and Luis Rodriguez, of Watertown, SD, Sheila Ironheart, of Peever, SD, Cari Ironheart, of Peever, SD, Tom Bartunek, of Summit, SD, Camille Feather, of Peever, SD and Kelly Feather, of Watertown, SD; and cousins.
