Funeral Service for Grace Aadland, 87, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Family Life Assembly of God Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Vern Donnell officiating. Organist will be June Evenson with special music by Sarah Aadland and Gloria Lundstrom. Pallbearers will be Marlow, Mark, Craig, and Dale Aadland, and John Brady. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All of Grace's Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, Family, and Friends". Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD with a 7:00 PM prayer service.. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Grace was born on April 8, 1928 to Rudolph and Meta (Wutke) Griepp at home on the prairie near Glad Valley, SD. She attended first and second grade in country school near Glad Valley. A severe drought caused her family to move to Lake City, SD to continue ranching. Grace completed her High School education in Sisseton, SD and graduated in 1946. She attended Northern State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. She taught two years in Long Hollow district and another year in Claire City, SD. Grace always continued her love of learning and teaching; sharing news articles and tid-bits of information with anyone that needed something.
On February 9, 1951 she was united in marriage to Marvin Aadland in Browns Valley, MN. They resided in Sisseton, SD and raised their five children. Grace worked for A & C Variety and Stavig Brothers Department stores for twenty years until she retired.
Grace loving cared for her husband Marvin who was a stroke patient for ten years until his death in 2003. She remained active in her church at the Family Life Assembly of God. She served many years as a Sunday school teacher and Secretary/Treasurer.
Grace was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker who thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her time spent with family was the most cherished. She enjoyed reading and studying scripture. Grace taught Bible studies in her home for many years. It was her desire that everyone have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She spent time each and every day reading her daily devotions and praying. She especially enjoyed studying scripture about Heaven her eternal home.
Grace passed away on May 22, 2015 in Fargo, ND.
Cherishing her memory are, her sons Marlow (Lois) Aadland of Sisseton, SD, Mark (Laureen) Aadland of Brookings, SD, Craig (Gail) Aadland of Rapid City, SD, Dale (Becky) Aadland of Wilmot, SD; her daughter Naomi (John) Brady of Minot, ND; fourteen grandchildren, Jason, and Sarah Aadland, Kimberly Robertson, Ryan, Matthew, Nicholas, and Andrew Aadland, Renee Baker, Aaron Aadland, Amanda Rodengen, Anthony Aadland, Jessica Corp, Kimberly Combs, and Aleah Breckenridge; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Landen, Logan, and Liem Aadland, Grant and Mason Robertson, Lily Aadland, Laila Rodengen, Angel, and Adam Aadland, Austin, Olivia, Isabelle, and Ethan Corp, Bradyn Combs, Sylas, and Amelia Breckenridge; and one brother Charles Griepp of Sisseton, SD.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grand-daughter Angelica Aadland, a great-grandson Jaxon Rodengen and a brother Noel Griepp, and a sister Priscilla Hoy.
