Private Family Funeral Mass for Goldie Hansen, 87, of Veblen, SD will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's Catholic Church, Veblen, South Dakota with Rev. Fr. Ken Lulf Celebrant. Special Music by Kara and Tomi Hansen. Pallbearers will be Henry Hansen, Dustin Lotzer, Ethan Stebbins, Bryan Hansen, Eric Lotzer and Julien Lotzer. Interment will be at St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. There will be visitation on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD.  The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Goldie Katherine Samson was born on March 20, 1934 to Frank and Katherine (Michlitsch) Samson in Britton, SD. On July 18, 1953 Goldie married George Hansen in Eden, SD.   They made their home on a farm near Veblen. Goldie worked many years as a cook at the Veblen School. After George passed away, Goldie continued to make her home in Veblen and became a resident of Edgewood Healthcare in August 2021. Goldie was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Veblen. SD.   Goldie enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and card playing. Above everything else, family was the most important thing to Goldie. Goldie passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Sisseton, SD at the age of 87.

Grateful for having shared her life are her eight children, Joan (Tim) Rice of Peever, SD, Lester (Sandy) Hansen of Veblen, SD, Susan Inniss of Fort Collins, CO, Mary (David) Lotzer of Sisseton, SD, David (Kara) Hansen of New Effington, SD, Glen (Tomi) Hansen of Madison, SD, Georgia (Kelly) Simon of Rapid City, SD and Virginia (Jeff) Richardt of Rapid City, SD; sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; two Sisters Priscilla Pitzl and Elvera Janisch; five brothers Norbert, Delbert, Adolph, Herbert and Wulfran Samson.
