Funeral Mass for Glen "Dickie" Richard George, 56 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, O.M.I. Celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Ricky Bubak, Roger George, Virgil George, Joe George, Louis Songer and Kenny Cordie. Honorary pallbearers will be Cletus George and all of Dickie's Family and Friends. Interment will be in Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD with Military Rites by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342. There will be visitation one hour prior to the services at the Church on Tuesday. Glen Richard George was born on January 11, 1954 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Darrell V. and Ardelle Joyce (Rolstad) George. He grew up in the Sisseton Area and attended school until the 12th grade. In High School Dickie was involved in football, basket ball and track. Following the 12th grade he received his GED. Dickie entered the United States Marines in February 1973 and served until January 1975. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, and the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge.He enjoyed his card playing of pinnacle, May I and Cribbage. Dickie was married to Diane (Brown) Lohre. Dickie ran Gunner's Pub, worked for Brewster Ready Mix, and helped his folks run George's Mini Mart. Dickie was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Dickie passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2010 at the Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.
Dickie is survived by three step children, Brian and Gloria Lohre of Milbank, SD, Tony and Joy Lohre of Sisseton, SD, and Barb and Rodney Leiseth of Wall, SD; two brothers, Alan "Boots" George and Steve and wife, Boni George of Sisseton, SD; one sister, Bonita and husband, Louis "Skip" Songer of Helena, Mt; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents.
