Funeral Mass for Gerrald Benjamin "Bud" Schmaus, 80 of Granite Falls, MN will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sr. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Gregg Frankmann celebrant. Sequencer will be LeAnn Glynn and Song Leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Jacob Schmaus, Jerad Rutsch, Charley Mudgett, Benjamin Schmaus Jr., Jonas Rutsch, Dakota Schmaus, Charles Schmaus, Scott Gonsoski. Honorary pallbearers will be All of Bud's Grandchildren, Family and Friends. Military rights will be provided by Otto-Quade-Renville American Legion Post # 50 and Fort Sisseton V.F.W. Post # 3342. Interment will be in The St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Gerrald went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2020 at Detroit Lakes MN. There will be visitation at the Cahill Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. The Covid 19 guidelines will be strictly followed. The Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Gerrald was born in Sisseton SD on November 30, 1939, to Benjamin George Schmaus and Emily Rose Schmaus. Gerrald graduated from Sisseton High School. He helped Emily with raising his siblings and taking care of his father until he passed away. When Bud was twenty-three he entered the army. He served as a medic and a cook. After he got out of the army he owned a bar in Peever SD, where he met his wife Doris Yankton. They were married in 1970 in Milbank SD. They had a daughter Cerrina Emily

and a son Benjamin Michael. Gerrald practiced his religion on a daily basis. They moved to St. Paul, MN shortly where he became a postal worker. In 1971 his second daughter was born Lasonia Devin. He loved toraise horses. In 1981 Gerrald and Doris divorced. In 2004 Gerrald moved to Granite Falls, MN to be closer to Doris and his daughters where he spent the next 16 years, helping raise his grandkids.

Gerrald moved to Park Rapids, MN with his son Benjamin and grandson Benjamin. Gerrald loved his Bible, and he had plans to go to Canada and dig for gold, and he loved his family, kids and grandchildren a lot. Gerrald loved helping with his great grandchildren Lilly, Benji, Damian who he started to call his prince. He loved preaching the word of God to everyone.

Gerrald died June 27, 2020 in Detroit Lakes MN.

Gerrald is survived by his son Benjamin (Tina) of Park Rapids MN, sisters, Leanne Kirk, of Sauk Center MN, Debbie Birdsal of Watson MN, and Audry Bucklin of Sisseton SD, a brother Merle Schmaus of St. Paul MN, a son in law, Scott Gonsoski and many nieces and nephews

Gerrald was preceded in death by his parents, ex wife Doris Yankton, and two daughters Cerrina Schmaus and Lasonia Gonsoski, and two sisters Marlene Flannery and Sharon Moe.
