Funeral Mass for Geraldine Theresa Devyak, 85, of Webster, SD will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, SD, with Rev. Fr. Albert Cizewski celebrant. Organist will be Kathy Hardina with special music by Kathleen Deustch. Pallbearers will be John, David, Michael, and Mark Fromelt, Bryan and Tyler Kirschenman. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Geraldine's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Grenville, SD. There will be a visitation on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, SD from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. wake service at the church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Jeri was born September 21st, 1928 in Rochester, Minnesota, to Frank and Grace (Campion) Porter. She married Nestor (Boche) Devyak in the spring of 1951 and to this union their only child, Pamela Ann Fromelt was born.
Jeri will be especially remembered for her quick wit, endless humor, love of life and love for her family. She devoted the majority of her life being around others by serving the public and retiring from the Radisson Hotel as Maitre D. She was an amazing singer and dancer, singing on the radio and winning dance competitions in the 40's. Jeri loved fashion and she was highly interested in current events, a variety of sports, word finds, and theater.
She had lived all across the states from California, Colorado, Minnesota, South Dakota, and all the way to New York. Jeri moved back to Webster in 1990. She passed away on November 17, 2013 at the Bethesda Home in Webster, SD.
Geraldine is survived by one daughter, Pamela and husband, Charles Fromelt of Grenville, SD and one brother Gordon and wife Margaret Porter of Mesa, AZ, five grandchildren; Jodi Fromelt, Christine Kirschenman, Lisa Boyd, Michael Fromelt, and Mark Fromelt, six great-grandchildren, Kyndra and Corey Fromelt, Caleb Otto, Tyler and Hanna Kirschenman, and Dylan Boyd, and many nieces and nephews.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Leo, and two sisters, Mary Rhett, and Francis Jones.
