Gerald F. Williams, 73, of Waubay, SD passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 in Roslyn, SD. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Enemy Swim Community City in Enemy Swim, SD. Rev. Fr. Charles Chan, Rev. Clifford Canku, and the St. James Episcopal Lay Readers will be officiating. Pianist is Billy Kohl and drum group is Toka Nuwan. Pallbearers will be Nathan Shepherd, Carmello "Caske" Shepherd, Raymond Shepherd III, Daniel Shepherd, Charlie Vermillion, Robert Cadotte,Tom DeCoteau, Robert Grey Eagle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Moses Keeble, Andrew Grey Sr., Jonas Grey, Kevin Roberts, John Cloud, Darcy Medicine Stone, Louis DeCoteau, St. James Episcopal Church Lay Readers, special little friend Gerald "trooper' Angiolelli, Floyd Hayes, Randolph Iyarpeya, Robert Iyarpeya, Henry Iyarpeya, Spencer Wanna, Linda Walters, Rita Marks, Joe Hayes and Duane HisLaw Sr. Interment will take place in the spring at St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Enemy Swim, SD. Wake Service is Monday March 11, 2019 at 7:00PM and All Night Wake Service is Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 7:00PM at the Enemy Swim Community Center. The Cahill funeral chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Fred Williams was born on August 5, 1945 in Sisseton, SD to Eva Hayes Shepherd and Fred Williams. Gerald grew up in the Waubay area. He attended the Enemy Swim Day School, also went to the Flandreau Indian School and returned home and received his GED in 1984. Gerald worked for many years for the Watertown Potato Company and worked for farmers in the Waubay area. Gerald was a Grass Dancer in his early years. He enjoyed dancing and singing. Later he loved going to Pow Wows recently following "That One Stand" on the Pow Wow. Traveling going to "Mandarene" getting rations. He was raised to honor and respect the Dakota way of life. His favorite time of the year was when he could go out and dig Indian Medicine. He taught his children that how to dig as well. Gerald was a Lay Reader at St. James Church for about five years from age 19 to 25. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew.

Gerald is survived by his long time companion Darlene of Waubay, SD; sons Nathan Shepherd of Waubay, Damien Cadotte of Sisseton, Tim Iron Starr   of Sisseton, Darrell Williams of Watertown, Clayton Williams of Yankton; daughter Leslie Paul of Moorhead; brother Raymond Shepherd Jr.; special niece Jennifer Shepherd (Charlie Vermillion), Charlotte Shepherd; granddaughter Grace Iyarpeya; many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, cousins, special friend Linda Walters, Rita Marks , Hayes family, Blue Dog family, Lena Blue Dog.
