CELEBRATION OF LIFE . . .
Gerald Block and two of his brothers-in-law, Ted Harrison and Jim Coons
There will be a Celebration of Life for Gerald Block and two of his brothers-in-law, Ted Harrison and Jim Coons on Saturday, June 19, 2021 with services at 10:00 a.m. at the Nelson Community Center in Peever, SD. Interment will follow at One Road Bethel Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to join. Lunch will be served at the Nelson Community Center following the interment.

Gerald was born to Leo and Sylvia M. Block in Britton, SD on August 15, 1934. He passed away in Apache Junction, AZ on January 6, 2021.
Gerald was raised on a farm in the Eden, SD area where he also attended school. At 20 he enlisted in the US Army. Gerald married Betty A. Jordal of Sisseton, SD on May 21, 1955. Gerald and Betty recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a guest appearance last year on "The Price is Right" in Los Angeles, CA!
Their first son, Curtis, was born at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, CO while Gerald was stationed there. Their second son, Gerry, was born at Santa Monica, CA where Gerald was working for McDonald Douglas Aircraft. Their third son, Daniel, was born at Norwalk, CA while Gerald was employed by Howard Hughes Aircraft. They moved to Aberdeen, SD in 1963, where he worked for Hub City Iron. In 1990 they moved to Golden, CO and joined a carpet cleaning business. When they retired, they bought a home in SD and a winter home in Arizona. They enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family all across the United States, and even Norway. Gerald enjoyed times with family and friends. He was known for his humor, generosity, and a serving heart.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Betty Block and sons, Curtis (Janice), Gerry and Daniel (Kathy), 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Shirley Tucker and Marlys Bubak, and two brothers, Tom and Harvey.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Sylvia Block, one sister, Betty Patterson, and five brothers, Roy, Jules, Leo, Raymond, and Eugene.
