Funeral Mass for George Mike Neuberger, 84, of Phoenix, AZ formerly of Lake City, SD will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, Celebrant. Organist will be Cindy Marohl and song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Inurnment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD, with military rites by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342. There will be visitation on Friday, June 26, 2009 one hour prior to the services at the church. George was born on February 23, 1924 in Lake City, SD to the late George L. and Mary (Reiner) Neuberger. George proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from January of 1944 to November of 1946, where he received the rank of Boatswain Mate Second Class. He served during World War II, and received the following medals, American Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal and World War II Victory Medal. Following the service he worked as a superintendent and operating engineer for road construction, working on many road projects throughout South Dakota and Arizona. George passed away on February 14, 2009 in Cottonwood, AZ.
George is survived by his two daughters, Dianne Frazier (Dewey William) of Cottonwood, AZ, and Mary Lee Ann Hensley of Anchorage, AK; one son Randolph George Neuberger of Flagstaff, AZ; three grandchildren, Melanie Rae Frazier (Lee McCoy), Brenna Lea Nicol (Jason) Starvia and Monique James; and one great-grandson, AZachary William Nichol.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister, Georgina Knutson and one sister, Florence Hackberth.
