Funeral Mass for George John Lentsch, 91 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Norman Volk, , Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Scott and May Lesnar, J.R. and Sheri Raap, Wayne Lentsch Jr., Christina Lentsch, Monty and Alison White, Jeff and Lori Ann Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of George's Friends and Neighbors. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will be Georgia Streier. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Friday, June 5, 2009 from 2:00 P. to 5:00 P.m. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, and 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Scripture Service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation one hour prior to services at the Church on Saturday. George John Lentsch was born on November 9, 1917 near Lake City, SD to Frank and Susan (Weyer) Lentsch. He grew up and attended school in the Red Iron Lake and Lake City area. When he was a teenager he moved with his family to Sisseton. During the depression he worked for the WPA and many local farmers. George was united in marriage to Delores Deutsch on November 21, 1945 in Eden, SD. They made their home on a farm near Sisseton where he farmed and they raised their family. Delores passed away in December 2006. George loved driving his B-Farmalls and looked forward to haying season every summer. He also loved watching his shorthorn baby calves at play. In his later years he planted trees for the ASCS Office. George was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. George suffered a stroke in June 2006 and moved to the Salem Golden Living Center, Salem, SD where he passed away on June 3, 2009.
George is survived by three sons, James and his wife, Cleta Lentsch of Salem, SD, Hilary Lentsch of Douglas, WY, Wayne and his wife, Delta Lentsch of Sisseton, SD; one daughter, Joan Lesnar of St. Paul, MN; one brother, Frank and wife, Ellen Lentsch of Sheridan, WY; two sisters, Veronica and husband, Howard Novstrup of Sisseton SD and Maggie Aadland of Custer, SD; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Delores of 6l years, four sisters, Katie, Mathilda, Rosiena Stewart and Marie Argo; one infant granddaughter, Kara Lentsch, and three brother-in-laws.
