Obituary

Funeral Service for Gabriel "Gabe" Keeble, 65, of Waubay, South Dakota will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Waubay Gymnasium, Waubay, SD with Rev. Fr. Charles Chan, Fr. Conrad Ceisel, Deacon Betsy Ceisel and Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Special music will be provided by Pam Walker and Sylvester Yellowback. Pallbearers will be Seth Keeble, Jordan Vermillion, Lance Keeble, Simon Keeble, Arthur Irish Jr., Mike Barse, Keith Barse, and Kevin Barse (Darius Bury). Honorary pallbearers will be all of Gabe's brother-in-laws, family, and friends. All night wake service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Waubay Gymnasium. Military rites will be provided by the Waubay American Legion Post # 129. Interment will be at the Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay, South Dakota. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Gabriel was born on June 20, 1953 at Sisseton, SD to Simon and Lucy (Eagle) Keeble. He grew up in the Pickerel Lake area and later in the Waubay area. He attended school at the Tekakwitha Orphanage until the 7 th grade then attended the Waubay school then did one year in at Lake Area Technical School in Watertown, SD. After his schooling he entered in to the Army on June 29, 1974. While in the Army Gabe earned the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter M16, Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 27, 1976. He met Pamela Barse and the two got married on September 25, 1976 at the Enemy Swim Episcopal Church. To this union came their two daughters Julia and Daphne. Gabe worked in Sioux Falls, SD in construction in his earlier years, at a mink farm, Dakota Sioux Casino as a cook and later at the Tribal Elderly delivering meals.

Gabe loved tinkering with cars and mechanical work, watching western movies, driving around and checking things out. He was very helpful with his family and community. He was very attentive to his family, especially to his grandchildren. He liked to go out and visit family and friends and go to the casino.

Gabe is survived by his wife, Pamela Keeble of Waubay, SD; his daughter, Daphne Keeble of Waubay, SD; grandsons, Jordan Vermillion , Seth Keeble, Eathan Dolney, Lance Keeble, and Darius Bury all of Waubay, SD; two granddaughters, Dana Bury of Webster, SD and Shauna Feather of Waubay, SD; and two great-grandchildren; an sister Mary M. Keeble of Waubay, SD; an brother, Arthur J. Keeble of Waubay, SD; an adopted sister Virginia Thiel of Watertown, SD and adopted brother Sylvester Yellowback of Sisseton, SD.

Gabe is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Julia Ann Keeble; brothers, Orville Seaboy, Duane B. Keeble, John S. Keeble, adopted brother Cyril Keeble; sisters, Catherine L. St.John-Keeble, Sylvia S. Keeble-Irish, Kathleen C. Keeble-Tulowetzke and Nancy L. Keeble.
