A Celebration of Life service for Fredrick Aaron Crawford, "Tatonka Omani" Walking Buffalo, 46, of New Effington, SD will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the New Effington Community Center, New Effington, SD with JC Crawford and Elrond Johnson officiating. Urnbearers will be Charles, Draven, Elliott, Dylan, Nathaniel, and Jaylyn Bedonie. Honorary Urnbearers will be "All of Fred's closest friends and relatives". Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Fredrick Aaron Crawford was born on December 31, 1978 to Roberta Doherty and Lyle Crawford and adopted parents Larry and Darla Thiele.  Fred was raised and grew up in many places including North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota.  In 1996, he attended "Kicking Horse Job Corps" in Ronan, MT where he met the love of his life Charlotte Joe. With this union they have two sons. After job corps, they moved to Pueblo Pintado, NM where Fred enrolled in CIT (Crownpoint Institute of Technology) and received certification in auto mechanics and earned his High School Diploma. In 2005, Fred and family relocated back to Sisseton, S.D. and eventually made their home in New Effington, S.D. where they have lived for the last 20 years. During this time, Fred worked at the Dakota Magic Casino in both the table games department and as a security officer. Fred had an unforgettable smile with a "one of a kind" personality. He was a gentle giant with an infectious laugh, gave big bear hugs, made friendships easily, and got along well with everyone, Fred simply loved life to the fullest! Some of his interests and hobbies included cookouts, lake days, bonfires, blasting music, cruising, cribbage, gaming with his sons, but most of all, spending time with family and friends. Fred made his way to the spirit world on January 26, 2025. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him!!

He is survived by his mother Roberta Doherty; adopted parents Larry and Darla Thiele; wife Charlotte Joe; children Elliott Crawford, Draven Crawford, Dylan Shepherd, and Nathaniel Blue; brothers and sisters Tammy Redday, Charles Blue, Chris Blue, Andre Blue, Jennifer Thiele, Sherilyn Thiele, and Paul Thiele.

Fred is preceded in death by his father Lyle Crawford; sisters Catherine Crawford, Cindy Johnson, Rhianna Bedonie, and Kimberly Thiele; brother Dana Crawford; many grandparents, uncles, aunties and relatives.
