Funeral Service for Franklin A. Rinas, 83 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Family Life Assembly of God Church, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell officiating.   Pianist will be June Evenson and soloist will be Thea Pallansch. Pallbearers will be Frank's nieces and nephews. Military Rites by Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Fort Sisseton V.F.W. Post #3342. Visitation will be on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Interment will be at the Sisseton City Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton SD is in charge of Funeral arrangements.

Franklin A. Rinas was born on January 5, 1934 in Goodwill Township to Adolph and Emma (Hopp) Rinas. He was the ninth child in his family and was born and raised on the Goodwill Home Mission place. Frank attended Goodwill No. 2 West rural school, grades one through eight and graduated in 1952 from Sisseton High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in the fall of 1952 and did a hitch on the east coast, west coast and South Pacific. He served on a crash and rescue crew in the states and Seabees in the South Pacific after the Korean Conflict. He received the National Defense Ribbon. Frank then returned to the Sisseton area and worked on the home place with his brother Dan, until about 1969. Then began farming by renting land from neighbors, Emil Schakosky and Theodore Mannes, who were retiring and Frank purchased the Mannes farm and later purchased the south two-thirds of the Thom Mallon ranch where his dad had worked. Frank raised Angus cattle and his bloodlines dated back prior to 1916, when his dad purchased his first registered bull and stock cows from Thom Mallon. This herd bloodline originated from the first registered Black Angus bull brought into this territory by Thom Mallon. Frank also did grain and row crop farming and raised most of his own hay. "There was nothing more satisfying then seeing the plow plunge into our Whetstone Valley earth and watch it tip over to get ready for each new spring season. With God's help, I intend to spend the rest of my life doing what I love best, farming." Frank wrote. Frank passed away on September 27, 2017 at Coteau des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.

Frank is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Gustie Horton of Sisseton, SD, Mrs. Ellen Skarnagel of Sisseton, SD, Mrs. Thelma Eberhardt of Moorhead, MN, Mrs. Anna DuBois of Sisseton, SD and Mrs. Freda Poyet of Sisseton, SD and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Michael and Dan Rinas and one sister, Anna Olga.
