Frank Andrew Gustafson was born May 22, 1951 to Eldon and Glenna (Dahlby) Gustafson at their home in rural Veblen, SD. He attended kindergarten at Fairview Country School and received his elementary and high school education in Veblen. He attended SDSU in Brookings and loved his Jackrabbits. He worked at the Veblen Farm Store before returning to SDSU to get his Masters Degree. He worked at the Veblen High School in the capacity of Librarian, Guidance Counselor, Test Coordinator, Financial Aid Advisor, and helped as Drama Audio Man. He then took a new job, similar position at the New Effington School which led to his becoming the Counselor and Financial Aid Advisor in the Sisseton High School. He loved nothing more than finding the right higher education opportunity and financial aid for the graduating seniors at all these high schools. He had a passion for taking pictures of students in a variety of athletic events. He shared them with many of the students of these high schools. Frank always had time to visit and made many good friends working with the students and their parents, while assisting with their college applications. He enjoyed his work with the City of Veblen and the Veblen Fire Department and was very good at procuring financial grants for various projects for these entities and different service groups. He also loved helping at the Veblen Library after the elementary school closed. He was active in the Veblen Jaycee Club and Veblen Alumni organization helping with several Veblen Celebrations. Frank passed away at his home on March 13, 2019.
Frank is survived by two brothers, John and his wife Marsha of Powers Lake, ND, their children Michelle (Keith) and Scott; and Jim and Paulette of Veblen, SD and their sons Matt (Beth), Darin (Michelle) and Joe (Jenn).
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Eldon and Glenna.
Frank never married but no one has as many "children" as he has cared for.
May God Bless the memory of Frank.
