Funeral Service for Francis Leon Thompson, 57, of Watertown, SD will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Old Agency District Center, Agency Village, SD with Senior Catechist John Cloud III officiating. The pallbearers will be Jack Thompson, Jessie Thompson, Vance Thompson, Erik Hisgun, Joey Seaboy and Dayton Seaboy. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Francis' Friends & Relatives. Inurnment will be in the St. Mathew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD at a later date. There will be a Wake Service on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 7:00 P.M. at the Old Agency District Center, Agency Village, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Francis was born on April 7, 1968, in Sisseton, SD to Nathan Gerald and Susan Ann (Nelson) Thompson. He grew up in the Sisseton Area and attended school at Sisseton. He worked for local farmers. Ten years ago, he moved to Watertown, SD due to his disability. He enjoyed making model cars and riding motorcycles. He loved listening to 80's music and especially the Guns and Roses. He was a Viking Fan. Francis passed away at his home in Watertown, SD on June 24, 2025.

Francis is survived by brothers Gerald "GT" Thompson of Sisseton, SD, Richard Mireau of Fort Washakie, Harold LaFromboise of Sioux Falls, SD, Nathaniel Thompson, Jr. of Aberdeen and James Thompson of Orem, UT; sisters Mary Lou Thompson of Sisseton, SD,  Marie Ann Thompson of Watertown, SD and Christine Thompson of Watertown, SD; nieces Angel Marks, Randi Thompson, Brittany Thompson, Michelle Thompson, Ashley Mireau, Christy Lee Jensen, Imogene Thompson, and Ida Thompson; nephews Darrell Quinn Jr., John Thompson Jr., Jack Thompson. Jessie Thompson, James Thompson, Trinity Thompson, and Richard Mireau; numerous cousins and numerous friends. Everywhere he went he had friends.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Susan (Nelson) Thompson; maternal grandparents Peter Nelson Sr. and Christine Bretzske; paternal grandparents Jenny (Renville) Thompson and Michael Jackson; brothers John Thompson Sr., Raymond Thompson, and Floyd Thompson; sister Elizabeth Thompson and nephew Joshua Thomas.
