Local Cowboy Francis Reginald Charging Cloud known as "Punchie", rode off into his final sunset in Peever, South Dakota, on Wednesday September 16, 2020, by his side was his faithful loving sidekick and partner Alta German.
Punchie was born on March 11, 1954 in the box of a wagon on the way to the hospital in Wakpala, South Dakota to Mr. and Mrs. Wallis Charging Cloud, and was later adopted by his aunt Agatha Holybull. He was given the Lakota name Wahhukeza (Eagle Staff). Punchie was a rodeo cowboy throughout his younger years and an old man break-away cowboy in the twilight of his rodeo days. He resided at the Second Chance Ranch in Big Coulee, South Dakota with his life partner Alta, where he performed his craft of leather working and tooling or taking on the occasional colt for training.
Anyone who ever met Punchie knew three things about him: his love for his partner Alta, his dedication to his family and his love for animals. Punchie always had a smile on his face, which followed him where ever he went. He loved the Cowboy way of life and was surely a country gentleman.
