Funeral Service for Frances Kathryne Wanna, 21, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with the Rev. Vern Donnell and Rev. Tony Dummer, OMI officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be David Williams, Alex Wanna, Jared Goodsell Jr., Emerson Bird, Hoksina BullBear, Kollen Eastman, Justin Brown, and Jared Long. Honorary Pallbearers will Sharae Robertson, Kayle Lawrence, Renae Wanna, Kelsey Eastman, Mercedes Wanna, LeeAnn Robertson, Gracie Goodsell, Azailya Robertson, Kelli Knutson, Angeline Wanna, Lindsay Krabbenhoft, Fiona White Eagle, Tara Olds, and Kayla Schultz. Interment will be at St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. There will be Wake Service on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 PM at the Tribal Community Center.
Frances Kathryne Wanna was born November 27, 1992 in Sisseton, SD to Doc and Anita Hart-Wanna. She grew up and attended Sisseton Public School. As a teenager she worked at Taco John's in Sisseton. On May 2, 2012, she gave birth to her son Xavier Duane Wanna and from that moment on he was her life's work. Frannie truly loved life. Her entire life she enjoyed traveling to pow-wows with her family. Frannie enjoyed the outdoors and found beauty in the world around her that went unnoticed by most people. She was truly an artistic and loved capturing her thoughts through her writing and photography. As an artist, naturally Frannie was also a lover of music and always listened to music as she went about her day. She also loved making jewelry. Frannie loved her family and friends more than anything in the world and if anyone she cared for was ever in trouble or needed anything at all Frannie would be there at a moments notice. The joy of her life though was the candid moments spent with her family at home. Playing with her son, nephews and nieces, and goofing off with her sisters and parents. Frannie taught us that laughter is medicine and it became her family's way of getting though anything. Frannie will be missed immensely by countless people who knew and loved her as she touched every life she has ever come into contact with. Frannie passed away on June 10, 2014 at Waubay, SD.
Frances is survived by her son, Xavier Duane Wanna of Sisseton, SD; her father, Duane Wanna of Sisseton, SD; three sisters, Rahima St. John of Sisseton, SD, Kelsey Wanna of Sisseton, SD and Fiona White Eagle of Sisseton, SD; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Frances was preceded in death by her mother, and paternal and maternal grandparents.
