Funeral Service for Floyd Gerald Thompson "Indian Boy", 66 of Agency Village, SD will be held on June 10, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, South Dakota with John Cloud III officiating. Pall Bearers will be Jack Thompson, Romeo Renville, Moses Rodlund, Brian Rodlund Jr., Mike Jensen, Avante LaCroix, Gabe Rodlund, Proxy Brian Rodlund Sr. and Skyler Thompson. Honorary Pall Bearers will be SWO Fish & Wildlife Crew, Watertown Hospice Nurses, SWO Tribal Elderly Staff, Jerome Renville Jr., Brandon Renville, Brandon Harwood, Duane Hisgun, Paul Keeble, Joe Kohl, Robert Kohl, and Justice Rousseau. Drum Group Noisy Bear. There will be an All Night Wake on Monday, June 9, 2025, starting at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, Veblen, South Dakota. Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Floyd was born on June 2, 1959, in Sisseton, South Dakota to Nathan and Susan (Nelson) Thompson. He attended school at Preston High School at Preston, Idaho and enjoyed playing basketball with the Preston Indians. On April 17, 1981, he married LaDawn Sharp and their son Skyler was born on April 3, 1982. He lived in Preston, Idaho before moving back to South Dakota in 1985. He worked for the SWO Fish & Wildlife, Dakota Western and various side jobs. He was a jack of all trades, enjoyed going for a ride with friends on the backroads, listening to music or watching Ice Road Truckers, and occasionally running from buffalo. Floyd passed away on June 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Floyd is survived by his son Skyler Thompson of Preston, ID; brothers Gerald "GT" Thompson of Sisseton, SD, Francis Thompson of Watertown, SD, Richard Mireau of Fort Washakie, Harold LaFromboise of Sioux Falls, SD, Nathaniel Thompson, Jr. of Aberdeen and James Thompson of Orem, UT; sisters Mary Lou Thompson of Sisseton, SD, Marie Ann Thompson of Watertown, SD and Christine Thompson of Watertown, SD; nieces Angel Marks, Randi Thompson, Brittany Thompson, Michelle Thompson, Ashley Mireau, Christy Lee Jensen, Imogene Thompson, and Ida Thompson; nephews Scotty Rodlund, Moses Rodlund, Brendan Rodlund, Brian Rodlund Jr., Gabe Rodlund , Francis Kohl, Darrell Quinn Jr., John Thompson Jr., Jack Thompson. Jessie Thompson, James Thompson, Trinity Thompson, and Richard Mireau; numerous cousins and numerous friends. Everywhere he went he had friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Susan (Nelson) Thompson; maternal grandparents Peter Nelson Sr. and Christine Bretzske; paternal grandparents Jenny (Renville) Thompson and Michael Jackson; brothers John Thompson Sr. and Raymond Thompson; sister Elizabeth Thompson and nephew Joshua Thomas.
