Funeral Mass for Floyd Guy DeMarrias, Tatanka Ohitika, 72 of Sisseton, SD, will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Tony Dummer Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Special music by Butch Felix. Pallbearers will be Donovan Keeble, Bruce DeMarrias Jr., Shane DuMarce, Leonard DuMarce, Keith DuMarce, Lincoln DeMarrias,Harlan DuMarce and Louis Abraham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald "Bucky" Pilcher, Darrell G. Renville, George Donnell, Mickey Renville, Hammy Marks, Leon Marks, Benji Thompson, Winfield Thompson, Casper DeMarrias, Clifford Quinn, Doug Renville, Raymond Shepherd, Larry Nerison, Phil St. John, Jonas Keeble, Dennis Keeble, Irvin hill, Louie Johnson, Jessie Larson, Don Kriz, Patrick Deutsch Jr., John Pilcher and Norman Watts. There will be a wake service on Sunday, August 1, at 7:00 PM and an all night wake on Tuesday, August 2, 2010 at 7:00 PM at St. Catherine's Hall, Sisseton, SD. Floyd "Tatanka Ohitika" Mean Buffalo, was born on August 6, 1937 to Jacob and Mercy (King) DeMarrias in Sisseton, SD. He went to school in Poplar MT. Following his education he returned to Sisseton and worked various jobs. He worked for Sisseton Housing for twenty five years until his health forced him to retire. He enjoyed playing dice and card games. He also enjoyed listening to Pow Wow music and attending Pow Wows. He loved watching sports. Floyd was married to Connie St. John and they have been together for forty five years. Floyd passed away on July 31, 2010 at the Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Connie DeMarrias of Sisseton, SD; one son, Bruce DeMarrias Sr. of Sisseton, SD; four step sons, Donovan Keeble, Keith DuMarce, Harlan DuMarce, and Leonard DuMarce of all of Sisseton, SD; two step daughters, Patty Nerison and Julie Watts of Sisseton, SD; two sisters, Evelyn Pilcher and Jingles DeMarrias of Sisseton, SD; four brothers, Lincoln and Geno DeMarrias of Sisseton, SD, Jacob DeMarrias and Kirk Adams of Browns Valley, MN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece, nephews and cousins.
