A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD, with visitation from 1:00 P.M.to 2:00 P..M.

Flora (Ducheneaux) Odegaard

October 18 ,1947 – December 21, 2022

Flora Carol Ducheneaux was born on October 18, 1947 on the Cheyenne River Agency to Frederick "Fred" and Josephine "Annie" (LeBeau) Ducheneaux and was one of ten children, growing up in the Eagle Butte, SD and the Sisseton, SD areas and was a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. She graduated with the Sisseton High School Class of 1965. Flora married James "Jim" Odegaard in Webster City, IA on December 18, 1965, settling in Sisseton until 1992 when they moved to Aberdeen, SD. Flora recently moved to Sioux Falls, SD and resided there until the time of her death. Flora is known for her delicious fry bread and her amazing cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to dance with them and play Chinese Checkers and Skip Bo. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, she liked to read and go to the casino and loved her Chihuahuas Patrick and Rico. Flora was a dedicated employee of the Indian Health Service with her career spanning over 40 years in Sisseton, SD and Aberdeen, SD and is valued and remembered for her work and efforts in serving the Great Plains Area.

Flora is survived by daughters Tina Foell, Anita (John) Borchard, Denise (Jason) Reif. Granddaughters Stacie "Lucy" and Melissa Foell, Danielle and Sarah Borchard, Michaela Odegaard-Millard, Hailey and Meghan Odegaard and Grandson Stryker Reif. Great granddaughters Maesyn and Kennedy and Great grandsons Jamison and Brennan. Sister Susan Ducheneaux, along with many extended family.

Flora is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Annie, sisters LeNeta Miner, Nora Hope, Carla Jackson, Sheral LaCroix, brothers Richard "Delbert", Ellis "Pat" Burton "Burke" and Bryant Ducheneaux and many extended family.

A memorial service will be held in the spring with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Timber Lake, SD.
