Funeral Service for Fidel Edward Kirk Pe hin han ska, 42 of Agency Village, SD will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 12:00 PM at The Tribal Community Center, Agency village, with CLP Gerald Heminger Jr., Traditional Services Danny Seaboy, Elder JC Crawford, Perry Bobtail Bear, Louie Johnson, and Joe Circle Bear Officiating. Organist will be Kay Bursheim and Billy Kohl. Drum Group will be Dakota Nation and All Drum Groups and Singers. Senior Pallbearers will be Londell Seaboy and Jason "Chubbs" Morsette; Casket Bearers will be Wambdi Gill, Kenny Kirk, Morley Spotted Bear, Hank Starr, Norwood St. John, Tom Drum, Craig Spider, Ronnie Brant, Gerald Zephier, Handles Robertson, C L Good Nature, and Gabe Cleveland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charging Eagle Family, Sissy Good House Family, St. John Family, Ron and Lillian Good Eagle and Family, Mikey Peters and Family, Barb Jens and Sons, Waycee Guerue, Buffalo Lake Sundance Family, Seaboy Sundance Family, Baker Family-Newtown, ND, Spotted Bear Family, Ernie Runnings, Dave Campbell, Cleveland Family, King Bird Family, Team Fidel, All Singing Brothers, Kipp White Cloud, Bill Runs Above, Lonnie Street and Family, Frankie Brown, Moccasin and hand games players, and M.O.B. Sisters, Roy and Carla Bison, Dewain Waletich. Interment will be in Goodwill Presbyterian Cemetery, Agency Village. All Night Wake Services will be held at the Tribal Community Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fidel Edward Kirk was born on October 19, 1970 in Sisseton, SD to Cornelius Kirk Sr. and Arlene J. Spider. At an early age he went to live with his Grandparents Ralph and Ida Roy Little Owl in Twin Buttes, ND; where he attended school up to his senior year. Fidel was known thru out Indian Country as grass and traditional dance and singer, he was the lead singer for Dakota Nation where they traveled thru out NDN Country, and singing was his passion. He would help sing at Sundance's. Whenever asked upon he would help sing. He attended the Sisseton Wahpeton Community College and received a degree in Carpentry. Fidel worked for various ranchers. Fidel loved the Rodeo Circuit he was a bronc rider and was also known for his cooking; he loved to cook especially grilling out with his family. He will be remembered for his jokes and stories, as this is the way he lived his life. Fidel always made sure his sons were taken care of. He enjoyed watching them in their sports and always encouraging them with their education. His two granddaughters who were his pride and joy Princess Tayden and Munchkin Ziah. Even as sick as he was they were there with Papa to the end. On November 2, 2012 Fidel was united in marriage to Danette Crawford at Goodwill Presbyterian Church. He lived his life like it was his last, never took things for granted. Fidel passed away on December 27, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Fidel is survived by his wife, Danette Kirk of Agency Village; three children, Vi Jay Kirk, Morley Kirk and Aydan Kirk all of Agency Village; two grandchildren, Tayden Crawford and Ziah Crawford of Agency Village; his mother, Arlene Spider of Browns Valley, MN; five brothers, Craig Nelson of Browns Valley, MN, Cornelius Kirk Jr. of Eau Claire, WI, Cornel Kirk of Fort Totten, ND, Ira Kirk of New York; Charles Kirk of Poplar, MT; seven sisters, Denise Fuentes , Lisa Nelson, Ursula Kirk all of Browns Valley, MN, Vanessa Kirk of Sisseton, SD, Reba Kirk of Poplar, MT, Charlene Kirk of Texas, and Patty LaCroix of Fargo, ND; Adopted mothers Della Bernard and Sissy Good House.
Fidel was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius Kirk Sr.; paternal grandparents Percy Kirk Sr. and Ralph and Ida Roy Little Owl and maternal grandparents Sampson and Martha Spider; one sister, Mary Nelson; three brothers, Brian Nelson, Howard Iron Leggings, and Leonard Kirk.
