Funeral Service for Felix Duane Johnson, Sr. 59 of Agency Village, SD will be held on Wednesday, Febraury 17, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Buffalo Lake District Center, Eden, SD with final viewing at 12:00 PM. Rev. Dwight Fearing and JC Crawford will be officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl with special music by Jarrod Lee, Butch Felix, Janeen Kohl, Elena Wilson and Buffalo Lake Drum Group. Pallbearers will be Christian Johnson, Msgt. (ret) Mike Ulmer, John Lincoln, Christopher Johnson, Luke Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Billy Canku Jr., Maurice Johnson, Mel Huff Jr., William Johnson, Jarrod Lee, and David Donahue, and Waylon Goodsell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Morris Canku, Rick Oien, Bill Canku Sr., Ron Kohl, Mark Thompson, Bill Vellenga, Jeff Block, Stan & Yvonne Hippen, LaVoy Wakinyansapa, Coke LaFontaine, Pat Rabenberg, Mike Rabenberg, Landmark Builders, Ken Luebke, Dr. Roger Bordeaux, Richard Bordeaux, Ben Bordeaux, Darrell DeCoteau, JC Crawford, Troy Goodsell, Alan Labelle, DeWayne Boyd, Mark Bubak, Lisa Jones, Jim Janisch and the Pawn Shop Guys and the MuffDivers softball team, and HIS Dialysis Staff and patients, Gabe Kampeska, and Randy, Gary, and Gay Moen. Wake Services will be held at the Buffalo Lake District Center at 7:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday (all night). Internment will be in the Buffalo Lake Presbyterian Cemetery, Eden, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Felix was born on March 14, 1956 in Sisseton, SD to Christopher and Shirley (Redwing) Johnson Jr. Felix attended school in Sisseton, SD and graduated in 1975. Felix worked various jobs and liked to travel. On December 31, 1983 Felix married Juanita Jones in Sisseton, SD. The couple lived in Vermillion where Felix worked construction. They also lived in Flandreau where he worked at the Bingo Hall and enjoyed playing softball with the boys, before moving to Sisseton, SD. Felix helped to bring slowpitch softball to the Sisseton area. Felix worked as a bus driver for Headstart and for the TZ Tribal School for fifteen years. He also ran the Group Home. Felix liked hunting, fishing, trapping, playing softball, bowling, playing cards, shooting pool, golfing and playing Santa. Felix helped with the Buffalo Lake youth, the Youth Builders Group, the Buffalo Lake Roller rink, and he also worked at Sisseton High School. Felix passed away suddenly on February 13, 2016, Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND with his family around him.
Felix is survived by four children, Kingsmill and Collette Johnson of Agency Village, SD, Rise` and DeWayne Boyd of Sisseton, SD, Nate Johnson of Sisseton, SD, and Felix and Alexis Johnson Jr. of Browns Valley, MN; five brothers, Louie and Sherry Johnson of Eden, SD, Norman Johnson of Sisseton, SD, and Kenneth and Heidi Johnson, Red Iron Lake, SD, Troy Goodsell of Grand Prairie, TX, and Jeff Block of Sisseton, SD; six sisters, Debbie and Gene Heminger of Agency Village, SD; Annie and Butch Felix of Sisseton, SD, Cookie Johnson of Red Iron Lake, SD and Angie Johnson of Red Iron Lake, SD, Elana Wilson of Sisseton, SD, and Linda and Gary Kriz of Sisseton, SD; and six grandchildren.
Felix was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Maurice and Alan.
