Eva Elizabeth Rinas was born on October 13, 1929 to Daniel and Martha (Gronau) Rinas in Sisseton, SD. She lived in the Veblen area as a young girl and moved with her parents to Sisseton in 1943. She was united in marriage to Cecil Stagman on October 20, 1948 at the Sisseton Lutheran Parsonage; their attendants were Harold and Marlys Stagman. To this union three daughters LaVonne, Iris and Lori were born. In their early years of marriage they cared for Eva's youngest sister while her mother worked. During this time, Eva was a homemaker and a farm wife. Her daily chores were hand milking a few cows and also tending to many chickens, eggs were delivered weekly to patrons in town. The family joke that there were so many cases of eggs and cans of cream that there wasn't any room left for the three girls in the car. Thursday was a fun time in Sisseton for the weekly drawing and meeting with friends and neighbors. Eva was employed at the City Bakery, Landberger Creamery & Produce and later years at the Viking Motel. She was a long time member of Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Auxiliary #50 and Fort Sisseton of Veteran Wars Auxiliary #3342. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving graciously whenever needed. Eva enjoyed her volunteer work at the Tekakwitha Living Center and Edgewood Vista, spending time and caring for others. She was known for her embroidery work on sets of towels. For those who received or purchased her towels, it always gave her joy from the "thank you" she received. Eva was a proud grandma and great grandma, spending time with them brought her joy. In 1988 Cecil and Eva purchased a home in Sisseton where they lived until February of 2016. Due to failing health they moved into Edgewood Vista Assisted Living. Eva passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton. Her diagnosis of COPD led to recurring pneumonia and congestive heart failure that ultimately was too much to overcome.
