Obituary

Family Funeral service for Eugene E. King Sr. will be Monday December 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be Monday December 14, 2020 from 10:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M.

Pastor Eugene E. King Sr. passed away surrounded by loved ones at Avantara in Milbank, SD on December 10, 2020.

Eugene was born on July 14, 1941 in Sisseton, SD to Matthew King Sr. and Louise (Duggan) King, Barse. He attended Old Agency – Day School and Sisseton High School. Later, he attended Central Indian Bible College and graduated in 1989 and was ordained in 1990. Eugene also served in the Army in from February 1961 to April 1968. During his serves he was stationed in Korea and Germany. Throughout Eugene lived in various states and cities. He always called Sisseton home. He lived and pastored in Mobridge, SD where he pastored at Wakpala, SD Sioux Assembly of God. He Earned his BA in Biblical Theology. Eugene was the Dean of Students at Central Indian Bible College and Chaplain Vice President and President of the Mobridge Ministerial Association. His mother Louise was very proud of him and all his family. He led AA in his church for his community. Eugene had many hobbies He was an avid Horseshoe player, loved playing ping-pong, bowling, volleyball and going for walks. He was a self taught piano player.

Eugene is survived by his children Sophia Renville, Carol (Cary) King Enno, Eugene (Rebecca) King Jr., Madonna King; grandchildren Scarlett Wanna, Gabrielle Wanna, Baby Jr., Matthew Bearden, Veronica Perez, Chloe Renville, Micheal Enno, Aaron Enno, Kyle Enno, Christopher Enno, Trent King, John King, Nora Aouf, Dillion James King, Shantell King, Lane King, Brooke Baine; Great-grandchildren, Ashton Lohnes, Dallas Wanna, Jennessy Wanna, Danger Wanna, Sapphire Wanna, Harlow Keoke, Riot White, Cobain Wanna, Brielta Wanna, Princeto Perez, Micheal Julius Enno, Inez Joyce Enno, Connor Lee Enno, and Adam Aouf. Also sisters Fern Barse,Marks Backer and Gail Barse

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Bernice LaFontaine and Doris LaFontaine; brothers, Charles King, Matthew King Jr., and Felix Barse and many loved ones dear to his heart.

Eugene's family would like thank the Tekakwitha Living Center Nursing staff, The Milbank Avera Hospital staff, and Avantara Nursing Home in Milbank staff and especially Karen Madison, LPN, who was with our father at the end so he wasn't alone.

They would also like to thank everyone who sent kind words, many prayers and words of comfort and encouragement during this time. Also they would like to say Thank you to South Dakota Assembly of God District Superintendent, Pastor Steve Schaible and his wife Rachael Schaible, Eugene LaFramboise, Roy Wessel, Pastor Cory Waisanen, Laura Berndt-Gunther, Neal Hale and faithful friend Benny Bone Club, and all his many relatives and friends, the Dakota Magic Casino and Connie Abraham.
