Obituary

Services will be held at West Metro Chinese Church (3695 County Rd 101, Plymouth, MN 55446) on September 21, 2024 at 11am. Pastor Carl Johnson will be presiding. Honorary Pall Bearers are Michael Wynde, Sage Cesspooch, Sean Scott, Vivian Tateyuskanskan, Cecelia Wynde and Sage Greyday. Ethel Marie Wynde, 90, of Robbinsdale Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024 at her home.

Ethel was born on January 26, 1934 to Ida Vivian Barse and Lawrence Edward Wynde in Sisseton, South Dakota. In her early year's Ethel recalls walking to school with her siblings and growing up on their family farm playing with her brother Larry. Also, Ethel had very fond memories of singing Dakota hymns with her daughter Alice while her mother Vivian played the piano in many different churches in South Dakota and Minnesota. After Ethel graduated from Flandreau Indain School in 1954, she went on to study and graduate from Minneapolis Business College. Ethel overcame many childhood obstacles in relation to her health having had polio as a small child. However, she never used her handicap as an excuse and was very proud of her independence. Ethel was able to live in the Minneapolis area from her twenties right up to her final days. Ethel was most proud of her retirement she earned from the United States Post Office where she worked for 38 years. Ethel spent most of her time at church with her friends and with her Grandson Mark whom she adopted when he was 2 years old and remained very close with up until her very last days. She was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren of which she had a very special relationship with Waniyetu, Sakowin and Dakota Wynde. Ethel also had many friends that were in her life and whom she loved as family. She would be proud to honor her friends Linda Olivo, Maxine and Marjorie Meline, Josephine her teacher at Flandreau Indian School who Ethel remained friends with since she graduated high school. And most notably neighbors Rich and Betty Midtlyng. And her "Angel" Donna Husbands who was with her daily in her final days. Rich, Betty and Donna all were a team of support for Ethel and she loved them dearly.

Ethel was preceded in death by Mother, Ida Vivan Barse; Father, Lawrence E. Wynde; Brothers, Theodore Wynde, Donald Good Thunder, James LaBelle, and John Wynde; Sister, Donna Wynde.

She is survived by Daughter, Alice Wynde; Sisters, Yvonne Wynde, Mary Lou Wynde, Karen Ramirez Wynde and Maxine Good Thunder Eidsvig; Brother, Lawrence E. Wynde Jr.; Grandchildren, Marty Wynde, Mark Wynde and Melissa Crowfeather; Great Grandchildren, Jordan Wynde, Mariah Crowfeather, Marty Crowfeather, Shane Crowfeather, Selena Crowfeather, Jaylin Wynde, Waniyetu Wynde, Sakowin Wynde and Dakota Wynde.
