Funeral Service for Ervin Lavoy High Eagle (Swift Eagle), Wakanhdi Ob Mani "Walks with Lighting,", 62, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Peever Community Center, Peever, SD with CRE Gerald Heminger Jr. officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Swift Eagle, Dion High Eagle, Adam High Eagle, Andre Heminger, Eddie Black Thunder, Derek DeMarrias, Mongecha Eastman, Azariah Eastman and Emerson Eastman.. Honorary Pallbearers will be Coteau Des Prairies Home Health Care Nurses, Laura Milton, Romeo & Opal Renville, Colleen Birdsbill, Milette Eastman, LeeAnn Eastman, Lenora Johnson, Rita Finley, Jodie Rencountre, Shayne Cook, Lindsey Richotte, Clifford Canku, Mike Greeley, Milton Eastman, LouAnne Phelps and Jerald Amos. Drum Group will be the Cook Boys. Interment will be in the Greeley Family Cemetery, Big Coulee, SD. There will be All night Wake Services at the Peever Community Center, Peever. SD at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday and Monday. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Ervin Lavoy High Eagle was born on December 11, 1958 in Sisseton, SD to Nora (Greeley) and Daniel (Swift Eagle) High Eagle. Ervin grew up in Big Coulee and enjoyed hiking throughout the many coulees. He graduated in May 1977 from Wilmot High School, Wilmot, SD. Ervin worked at Dakota Poultry for several years and also at Dakota Western, Agency Village, S D. He was also a Porter at Dakota Magic Casino, Hankinson, ND. Ervin enjoyed listening to music, reading, doing jig saw puzzles and word search books. He was a Minnesota Viking fan. He enjoyed watching Frazier and Wheel of Fortune. Ervin was a talented artist, he did pencil drawings, beading, making staffs and some fans and bustles. Ervin was a member of Ascension Presbyterian Church, Big Coulee and enjoyed listening to Dakota Hymns. Ervin was a kind-hearted, humble, and caring person, always willing to help out people whenever he could. Ervin lost his long battle with cancer on March 19, 2021. Ervin will be greatly missed.
Ervin is survived by his daughter, Misty Fayant of Enemy Swim; two sisters, Barbara Birdsbill of Wolf Point. MT and Mary High Eagle of Peever, SD many nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren; long time friend, Nina Johnson; special grandson Zayden Redday and hunka brother Derek DeMarrias.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Daniel; four brothers, Willard Greeley, Beeman High Eagle, Alfred Swift Eagle, and William Swift Eagle; three sisters, Lynette High Eagle, Diane Greeley Red and Della Greeley Eastman; one grandson, Leland Oliver Eastman; one great grandson, Tucan Amahpeya Ja Jan Eastman; and two nephews, Floyd Greeley and Carmen Birdsbill.
