Funeral Service for Erma Aadland, 99, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Joshua Knudsen officiating. Organist will be Ollie Yost. Pall Bearers will be Chris Steiner, James Meland, Jamie Faas, Carl Bruening, Michael Folkestad, and Jason Himle. Honorary Pall Bearers will be All of Erma's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. There will be a Visitation on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and at the church one hour before the funeral service. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Erma was born to Fred and Anna (Kirchemann) Walz on October 31st, 1924, near Eureka SD. She married Lloyd Aadland on February 12th, 1942, out of that union eight children were born. Erma worked for Coteau des Prairies Hospital for many years as a cook and a supervisor.
She enjoyed cooking and baking. She has many grandkids, great grandkids as well as great-great grandkids. She enjoyed it when they would come to visit. She especially loved seeing the babies added to the family over the last few years.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. This was a very important part of her life. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother. We are all grateful for sharing her life with her and she will be truly missed. Erma passed away November 14th at the age of ninety-nine at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD surrounded by family.
Erma is survived by her six children: Audrey Folkestad of Sisseton, SD, Pearl (Leo) Deutsch of Prague, OK, Donna (Durand) Steiner of Sisseton, SD, Theresa Faas of Tripp, SD, Debra (Terry) Meland of Waubay, SD, Kimberly (Michael) Bruening of Humboldt, SD; three sisters: Tillie Weinkauf of Sisseton, SD, Prisilla (Gail) Porter of Rock Island, WA, and Wilma Haddock of Wenatchee, WA; two brothers: John Walz of Columbia, OR and Clarence Walz of Sequin, WA; twenty three grandchildren; forty five great grandchildren; twenty great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son Gerald; daughter Carol Himle; six brothers Alvin, Albert, Howard, Freddie, Gene, and Victor; two sisters Anna and Deloris; son-in-laws, Robert Faas and Russel Folkestad; grandson Scott Himle; and great granddaughter Dani German.
